I thought it was quite scary that some communities seem to have broken down beyond repair. I hope I'm wrong, but when there are so many Muslims who don't speak up against the extremists, it fuels the rage of certain others, such as the EDL.

Not a problem in my quiet little market town of Neath, but it seems that the problems are growing in some towns and cities in England.

I have opinions towards extremist Islam but so do 99% of Muslims. The EDL is trying to counter act it which is only natural, but the problem is it is full to the core of racists who hide behind the fact that they have a multi couloured organization. Its a right to oppose what you are don't believe or agree with, but I for one do not want a young racist of a leader speaking for me. Young men with too much testosterone get waaaay to much media coverage...on both sides. The media need to act more responsibility, naive youngsters will let programmes like I just saw go straight to their head.

To be fair to Channel 4, the coverage was such that you could see faults in both arguments. What I don't understand with certain extremists that spoke on that programme, is that they truly believe that Islam will rise to such an extent that it will not only dominate the world at large but the UK, too!

At the moment, anyone wanting to increase the influence of religion on life in the UK is onto a losing battle, in my opinion, because British people appear to be apathetic at best when it comes to religion. Scaremongering has influenced some into attaching to certain religions but, generally, it seems to be on the decline.

I don't think it's a bad thing, if we've turned away from religion, as long as we all keep some kind of moral code that we live by and show respect for each other. That's what makes us civilised and shows that we are the superior race on this planet - one race, the human race. I don't dislike people for their skin colour or country of birth or religion, it's about personality and the way they treat others.

You have a mature outlook and your opinions on religion etc are in order, but a young teen who is receptive to this bollocks cos they are at a point in their life where he/she doesn't even know who they are yet, its worrying. Channel 4 did show faults in both sides arguments and I could see that the whole aim was reflect on both parties in a negative light. I still strongly think that programmes like this should not be broadcasting such issues at prime time on a major channel if on TV at all. It seems to be a popular topic with the media and its only encouraging these people to push on further and spread their words of hatred amongst the masses.

It is a small, tiny, microscopic minority who are part of these groups, however it only takes 1 person make a very large impact, especially with news coverage all over it every week on every channel.

Thanks.

I see what you're saying. Certain newspapers are guilty of it, too. More responsibility needs to be taken by the British media - and not just for their prying into celeb lives, either.
