Streets were lined with Jocks for our "home" game. Whenever the bus stopped at lights they tried to force their way on to get at us. Threat of violence everywhere. The kop was all standing then. It should have been our end but was 70% Scottish. Welsh to the right, Scots to the left. Bit of a no-mans land in-between with a lone copper wielding a large truncheon above his head to keep fans apart. Bottles flying overhead for the entire game. Not for the faint hearted.

So briefly his tale was, as a spotty 13 year old, his elder bro and 5 mates they take a train from Aberystwyth to liverpool. At lime st station they notice loads of shabbily dressed local scouser kids wandering round on the lookout, for what they rightly assumed was pickpocketing opportunities among the drunken revellers. Then, they get a lift off a local in a transit to the ground only to be set upon by drunken jocks who tried to rock the van over. When they got to the ground, it was going off all over the place with even Jocks fighting among themselves and the OB when they werent scrapping with our lot! On the Kop, once inside it was a tirade of glass bottles being thrown and because they were squeezed in shoulder to shoulder they couldn't even defend themselves or duck. They let in way to many people at that end, and could have been a Hillsborough type situation. Consistent scrapping on the Kop all through the game, so my mate (the only one not bleeding) and his gang got out early somehow (they werent letting fans out before the end!!) only to witness what he described as a war outside, carnage! Police cars being attacked, fighting everywhere. My 13 yr old mate was then separated from his older mates in the chaos, so ran far away from it in search of the station to hopefully meet his mates. It was then he got jumped by scouser kids, where they took almost everything including his jacket and train ticket! And found out that loads of these locals were waiting in the wings watching the fighting, for a good thieving opportunity! Mental!!!! Eventually he made his way to a cop shop and they dropped him off at a coach park for Wales fans, where luckily in tears by now he meets up with his older brother and friends, who gave the poor sod a real hard time!
Scouse people that I have known have been lovely folk, and theres bad eggs wherever you go in the world, but the "thieving scousers" saying?! Not just a saying then!!

Very intimidating at the time, crammed right at the back of the Kop, & it was like witnessing a real life battle scene from the Brave heart film.
Can't remember much of the game,,,didn't Toshack have a goal disallowed?

It was our home game because of us being banned from Ninian Park we had to play at Anfield. There were no jacks anywhere or Wrexham fans ! Fighting all the way throughout game and bottles raining down on us all the way though game. We were cheated out of it to, with Joe Jordans famous handball incident. Then when Daglesh made it 2-0 ! We decided to leave by having of jumping downat top of Kop tunnel exit which was quite a height ! We were totaly out numbered by way of. bad ticketing distribution by the W.F.A. The memory of that night have always stayed with me ! Harrowing !
