Lets not forget.

We drew that game chaps, a not so distant time ago that would have been a replay. We held a world class, fully fit Liverpool team who have never needed some silver wear so bad in their recent history.

Watching the highlights has made me overwhelmingly proud! We played to defend and occasionally break 'crystal palace esk' in our play, however you have to play that way in order to compete with these so called big clubs. The difference was, when we did get the ball rolling smoothly amongst the midfield and linking into the front men, we were showing as much quality and composure as they did, they weren't the most convincing in defence it has to be said.

If you look at stats and look at goal to shots ratio etc we were the better team, our defence performed better than theirs and we took ALMOST all our chances when we had them. Its harder to chase the ball than have it, that's what make me even prouder...they.were.fucked! They still wouldn't die when everyone (even me) thought that was it when Goonie face scored.

Mentally its left a little hangover because of the way we lost, when we actually realised we could win the thing! Part of me wanted it to end after Goonie face made it 2.1 but to be fair that Turner goal will be on a level with Scott Young's goals in terms of the feelings and the moment of elation it created, so ill cherish that forever and always turn the reel back with admiration as I have done 100's of times with Young's winner.

On the whole this is a team for the future, heartache or not it will be invaluable experience for them and to share it together will only bring them closer together. The future is bright for City and it was an experience personally that cannot be fabricated or bought, its earnt thanks to that squad of players out on that pitch, an experience only cup finals can give.

Reading posts, people are forgetting the final score was 2.2. We lost the penalty shootout not the game, yeh it doesnt make a difference to most but on reflection and living in Liverpool I am delighted with that.
