So hard to take

Mon Feb 27, 2012 10:45 am

After pushing a team that cost so much to put together all the way I feel nothing but pride in how our team performed yesterday.

I won't have been the only one pleasantly surprised at how attack minded our starting 11 was and I thought especially in the first half we knocked the ball around well at times and bullied Liverpool a little. The move for our goal was a nice little passage of play as was the build up to Miller's early chance and indeed his late chance.

As the second half wore on you could sense Liverpool scoring and I thought Malky would change it but no to his credit he kept them going, only making changes when they were really needed. Watching Gunnarson soldier on and knock the ball about when it looked as though he couldn't move towards then end showed what Malky has instilled in our team. They run through walls for each other.

To have the belief that we could take the game all the way was one thing but to to bounce back from them taking the lead and then us having one cleared off the line was f*cking superb.

Penalties are a horrible lottery, though I admit to feeling confident. No offence to Antony Gerrard, but he was the only one I wasn't confident about and the big man will be hurting today. It was so hard to take. My 5 year old was streaming tears for an hour afterwards but he's away into school today proudly wearing his City scarf and that is a pride we should all be sporting this morning. We may not have won, but we held our own and then some.

Everyone associated with the club from the players, management, staff right through to the supporters should be very very proud of yesterday. 14 performances like that will take us up, lets spur them onto it.

Paul, I could'nt even bear to look at any children on the way out because I was already emotional enough, without seeing the heartbreak on any of their little faces.

Your little fella will remember yesterday with pride for the rest of his life :ayatollah:

It set me off as soon as I saw his little face - never seen him so upset. The joys of football. He's all pride and smiles today, he'll be back :)

Beautiful post PtB. Yeah, a day of mixed emotions but from the highs to the lows it was one hell of an amazing experience. :ayatollah:

I thoughy my lad was going to flood but just held off fair play to him. We will bounce back with this manager and team.
And our fans take a bow :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Great post Paul. My lads were gutted but immensely proud. Never knew Charlie (15) had such a varied vocabulary of 4 letter words! The 2 hour journey home was horrible-surrounded my south west LFC fans. The worst thing was they didnt even seem happy to have won the game.

As you said 14 more performances like that and we'll be up.
