He is getting better and better, than penalty save was unbelievable, i think he is now just a bit better than Marshall, although it is really close and they are both good keepers .....

I personally believe he should be our no.1 keeper - IMO he has the edge over Marshall, we should renew his contract, you're right Annis.

Have to agree. I much rather him in goal, as seems to command it better than marshal. He is younger, and growing with confidence.
I would play him in some leauge games now.

i was just going to post this myself, i think he is developing more and more each game. that penalty save v gerrard and some saves in that game were class.

my personal opinion is that he should def be established as our no.1 keeper and rewarded for his efforts with a new contract.

Yeah, I would also start him against West Ham. He didn't put a foot wrong yesterday and now is the time to give him his chance.

I've been saying it for a long time now - Heaton should be our first choice keeper, although Marshall is brilliant as well, Heaton just has the edge on him in my opinion. There are a few goals that Marshall hasn't been able to manage to save this season that I think Heaton would have...

this is a terrible arguement both good keepers, after the the carling cup peformances besides the goal at palace i think heaton should be give a run of games at least

I agree that Heaton should be made our number 1 'keeper, but I'm not sure that changing it now is a good idea. We've got to where we are in the league with Marshall in goal, do we really want to risk messing it up?

to be fair, both have strengths and weaknesses but both are quality Keepers at this level!

he was awsome ,made some great saves and was very assured all day...only problems is with finals like these is our players get noticed ,turner has had massive praise so teams wil lbe watching hm...cant say enough about any of them yesterday

His performance will surely put to rest the rumours that he was a "bottlejob" last season.
Incidentaly The save from Gerrard has made sky run loads of crappy features on how to take the perfect penalty lol,it was an absolute wonder save.
Also you will not meet a nicer guy in football than Tom Heaton

Watching Heaton was liking watching Joe Hart. What an outstanding keeper, we've got a quality lad with world class potential. His reactions and bravery between the sticks is comparable to Hart who is considered the no.1 in the world. Get him on a new contract, and get him playing regularly. World class penalty save against a world class player who beat Joe Hart twice with penalties.

Absolutely brilliant lad, if we let him go it's another teams points as frankly he can be a decider between wins and losses. Some of those saves he made in the game too were just outstanding.

I'm a big Heaton fan and to have him and Marshall we are very lucky.

We have to be realistic though and have to consider who will be number 1. I don't think having a second choice keeper on a huge wage is a good idea.

A brilliant position to be in, but didn't one of our illustrious colleges on the forum have a distinctly different view on Tom after the Palace away game.

He had a very good game and i am confident if either are between the sticks. Our 3rd choice isn't bad either.

I've said from day one that he's better than Marshall.

problem with getting him to sign contract is! getting 1st team games he is to good to be second choice so really its a choice for malkie who is number 1 either way one of them will leave! prefer heaton as number 1 parish will ,make good number 2

He's still relatively young and he's only going to get better. He's a really good all-round keeper and just generally very solid.

We can't afford to lose more quality players on a free like last summer!
