brain injury

Do people with brain injury usually experience anxiety as a direct result of the injury? Just interested to know how common/ typical this is. Also, is the anxiety a direct result of the injury or a side effect that occurs after the injury? What are the physical factors that cause anxiety in brain injury patients?

Unusual Post for this messageboard. However, as I deal with Personal Injury Claims, I thought I would answer it......

In simple terms yes.

Brain Injuries can be either large or small. At the most serious end you have situations which result in paraplegia whereas on the lesser end you could have someone who has been knocked out for 10 mins and lost all memory of the accident - but everything else is normal. Both are injuries to the brain.

With such injuries it is common for the person to feel depressed, fatigued (tired) and/or suffer anxiety. The amount depends on the injury suffered.

Headway is a very good organisation for people who have suffered Brain Injuries.
