FRED KEENOR STATUE RECEIVES ASSEMBLY DONATION

I have just received this email from Phil Nifield.

Hi everyone

I'm delighted to let you know that the Welsh Government has announced a £5,000 donation to the Keenor appeal.I enclose the Press statement from the Minister and also a statement from David Craig, the statue project manager, for information. The information has just been published on the Trust website.

The Keenor committee will be holding its next meeting at the Ninian Park pub on Tuesday at 7.30pm.

For those that added £1 to fares to the Carling Cup Final and those that said they would make donations, I'd be grateful if you could let me know how much you have raised (once all monies are in).

There are several ways to pay those donations to the appeal fund, details of which are on the Trust website, or we'd be delighted to see on Tuesday if you're able to pop in.

The Welsh Government donation takes the fund to £66,000.

Embarrassed??? Why??? Let the clubs mentioned above recognise and celebrate their history however they see fit. Is it wrong for us to celebrate ours because "you" believe that we should follow suit and it's not the normal things to do?

Remember this, we are a club. A club consisting of fans, players and management/backroom staff. We are all part and are members of One club and we are proud of our history.!!!!

Isnt it £85k needed? If so with about 20,000 going by bus we will have the statue erected in a few months!

History inspires, Its was under 100 years ago as you've said, so its good to have visual reminders of that. Clubs like Liverpool live off their history. Dont be a pleb.

JONNY talks sence in a way but also WHAT ARE THE CLUB DOING FOR THIS ??? I mean this 75k has been being raised for along fecking time,its a disgrace that us the normal people have to even pay for it while we got people on big bucks down there, wheres there donations of a good few grand carl from within club?? for them who want to know THERE IS NOTHING GOING IN TO IT FROM THE CLUB ,so to me that tells me what the club think of it in the firstplace

How about Craig (I love city, I'd play for free) f*cking Bellamy stumping up the difference to get this statue finished.

To be honest the club should be doing this themselves. 'If' they are so interested in the history of the club I don't see why a sum of £75,000 wasn't included in the £20 million CCS project..? rather than leave hard-up fans chip in time and time again.

Also why doesn't the likes of Compass donate 10p for every pint they sell..? I have mentioned this before and don't know if it was acted upon by the powers to be but if the management of Compass are interested in their investment at CCS you would have thought that they would have already put something into place by now.

Another thing is that I don't like the timing of this donation of the WAG. Its too close to election time (2.5 months) for me not to think that there's another agenda behind this so-called hand out.
