Dutch Ray has resigned

Fri Feb 24, 2012 7:04 pm

Apparently Dutch Ray has resigned, fed up of all the politics involved in the FAW.

It does beg the question as to whether he'll retire. Bloody well hope not!

I'm not too disappointed by this, no doubt he has a talent but the guy was a bit of a law to himself.

He used to tweet some silly stuff that he had no right to.

One person shouldn't be bigger than the FAW.

Good timing from him trying to take the shine away from Speedo's memorial on Wednesday.

What a prick!

I think kit Symons getting his job didn't help. What a sh1t appointment. Fcuk me well have Barry Horn kit man next and eric young physio. A huge backwards step.

Im a big fan of Dutch Ray but his comments on twitter all the time were just getting to much. I felt it was disrespectful when he felt it was "Speeds wish" that he remained and the timing of his resigning shows his lack of respect for Speed IMO.
I really wanted him to stay on board but it seems his ego is just to much. No doubt the FAW didnt make it easy for him either.

Well the players respected him and his reputation speaks for itself. Both of these things resulted in us achieving ever-improving results and our highest world ranking in 17 years. Shame he said some of the things he said on Twitter, but at least he's prepared to put his point across. The FAW like peace and quiet, and he came in and shook things up so they didn't like that. Bunch of old men in suits anyway!

Wow! Youth set up at Fulham or a guy whos been to world cups and the players themselves have
said hes so progressive in his approach and credited him as much as speed for the change in fortunes.

Well I didnt compare them firstly
If i was manager i would first want someone I would trust, if he doesn't trust Dutch Ray then I doubt he is going to listen to him or be much of an asset.

Personally I wanted him to stay, he has been geat for us but he has never helped himself with his comments, I guess its why a major nation hasnt come in for him.
I think Coleman would have kept him if he had shown respect but he hasnt. I dont think the FAW wanted him gone asap.

Kit Symons. Jobs for the boys. Typical dinosaur behaviour by a dinosaur manager.

Well yeah someone you trust and you know who you can work with is massively important as number two. Most managers take a number two around with them. Coleman hasnt been able to do it with Kit until he had a good enough job, now he does and has brought him. It was always certain he would have brought in his own number two as would any manager, as did Speed. Dutch Ray had a place though and I honestly believe the FAW and Ray himsefl fucked that up rather than coleman

Absolutely glad to see the back of this horrible excuse for a human being. Been riding on the back of Gary Speed`s reputation for too long. No doubt he has talent but unforgiveable the comments he made after Gary`s death!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

not surprised the FAW buggered it up.........backward steps in my humble opinion, hopefully I will be proved wrong

he wasn't after the bloody managerial job he was clearly saying he thought that the coaching department should stay the same. He didn't say anything about the manager's post if you read the actual tweets it's just the mainstream press jumping to conclusions and causing trouble.

His tweets dont help matters. He has shown a lack of respect to speed for sure.

Maybe a top 4 football team will take him if he is so good ;)

Time will tell on how big a loss Ray will be but I thought he was great for us.

Big shame he's gone.

Chris Coleman was never going to work with him though in my opinion.

Fact?

Have you even read any of Dutch Ray's tweets? Particularly nice ones include a series where he's almost positively smug about Ajax players having hamstring problems, something prevented if they'd followed his training methods...

The guy quick to refer to what "Speed would have wanted" RESIGNS before the Speed memorial game.

Think that tells you enough about the guy as a person.

Absolutely gutted of this and its a complete own goal by the FAW. Coleman was a lazy appointment at a time when you had players like Bellamy and Ramsey crying out for 'Dutch Ray' to be given the job.

Really, were they?

What makes you think Dutch Ray wanted the manager job?

Do you believe the FAW should have done what Dutch Ray wanted, ie have a figurehead manager like Ian Rush?

Seriously?

Do you seriously have any respect for the man who played the "what Speed would have wanted" card within days of his death yet doesn't even have the respect for Speed to wait till after the Costa Rica game to quit?

Still, at least you're blaming people other than malaysians this time...

If you believe that he didn't want the job then you are on cloud 9, I can assure you that the contacts I have inside the FAW tell me that he made himself available for the position on more than one occasion to the suits in the FAW corridors.

Well, perhaps you can ask your contacts within the FAW why he publicly called for a figurehead manager like Rush to be appointed then.

Given he was constantly making himself available, like.
