PETALING JAYA: Tycoon Tan Sri Vincent Tan has decided to retire from an active corporate role in diversified conglomerate Berjaya Corp Bhd (BCorp), which he founded and controlled. Tan has also relinquished his position as chairman of BCorp.
He will, however, remain as the controlling shareholder of BCorp.
In a statement, Tan, who turned 60 yesterday, said: “My giving up the chairmanship and active day-to-day involvement with the Berjaya group’s business will allow me to devote more of my time and energy to promoting more charitable and social programmes and initiatives. It is also my intention to devote more time and investment to developing the Cardiff City brand, which has a growing popularity here in Malaysia.”
Tan’s eldest son Datuk Robin Tan, who took over as BCorp’s chief executive officer from his father in January last year, will concurrently hold the position of chairman and CEO of the company with immediate effect for an interim period.

All good that he's giving more of his time to Cardiff city but does "developing the Cardiff City brand" mean more investement in CCFC itself? Reading between the lines it seems to me that his statement probably means more investement in marketing Cardiff city in Malaysia.![]()
