Football chiefs have abandoned plans to play the national anthems before Sunday's Carling Cup final at Wembley.
Liverpool take on Cardiff but Football League bosses do not want a repeat of the scenes at the 2008 FA Cup final when English and Welsh fans booed their rivals' song.
The Welsh and English anthems were booed at the 2008 FA Cup final
The Bluebirds faced Portsmouth that day and Sunday's match will be the first time the anthems will not be played at a showpiece final in the new Wembley.
The Football League has a policy of not playing the anthems if a Welsh team is at the stadium.
Cardiff lost to Blackpool in the 2010 Championship play-off final while Swansea won against Reading to reach the Premier League last year.
Cardiff will be allowed into the Europa League if they beat Kenny Dalglish's side.
The Reds will take the place if they come out in top although a top-five Premier League finish opens the door to the side finishing sixth in the top flight.
