Anyone know if the trains are dry on Sunday?

Thu Feb 23, 2012 1:51 pm

Just phoned FGW and they have no records of any alcohol restrictions on Sunday. Only thing they advise is an hour divert because of works on the 7 tunnel.

I'm sure someone somewhere posted there was a poster up at central station with details :?:

Don't know about the train being dry but we are taking our own. We have an hour delay so get into paddington at 12 instead of 11. The train will be rocking :ayatollah:

They generally only enforce it at the point of boarding in my experience. They aren't overly bothered once you are on the train as long as you are discreet enough about it.

As they only generally search bags a couple of well placed cans in coat pockets should go unnoticed as long as you don't act like a dick at the station.

This made me think of a great story I heard when I was a kid, England vs Scotland at Wembley.

All the trains were dry that day and the police were taking any liquid (even soft drinks) off the fans at all the stations in Scotland, then the trains were running straight to Kings Cross without a stop, this way they wouldn't have to have as many police actually on the trains and they would be met when they arrived in London.

As the trains pulled in, most of the Scottish fans getting off were absolutely steaming and the police couldn't work out how this had happened. The fans had all taken food on the trains with them, each and every picnic bag had a few oranges in them which seemed harmless enough, except...They had injected all the oranges with vodka!

Too good not to be true, that story still cracks me up, especially the thought of the police wondering what the hell was going on
