Shirt Sponsorship Money - Malaysia

I remember a few years ago when we had Comms Direct as the shirt sponsor, they had to pay more and more money depending on how far we got in the FA Cup. For each round we progressed, they had to pay more for being the shirt sponsor (as part of the agreement), so when it got to the final they had to pay a fair whack in sponsorship money!

Does anyone know what the deal is with the shirt sponsorship with 'Malaysia'? ie. Who is it - it is just VT putting the country name on the shirt and therefore he foots the 'sponsorship' bill, or is it funded by the Malaysian Government?

I'm assuming that there would be similar stepped payments for each round we progressed through?

I think it's just an excuse for tan to put as much money as he likes in and get around any legal issues with that. Like Man City's 200million contract with etihad for the shirt sponser.

if I remember rightly the Shirt sponsor got offered £100k for their spot on the shirt for the FA cup final, by another company, which was double what they paid to be there themselves. But they turned it down.

According to recent reports, VT pays more weekly to keep the club shipshape.....

No disrespect here m8, but without TG/VT we (probably) wouldn't have a team to support. We wouldn't have Malky signing a new contract, & all you that are fortunate to be going on Sunday, you wouldn't have a cup final to look forward to.

You seem to misunderstand wht I'm saying here - I'm merely interested in who pays for the shirt sponsorship. I fully understand the contributions made by VT, however with a shirt sponsor as merely 'Malaysia' is it just a proud stance taken by VT to raise the profile of our connection, or is it actually paid for the the Malaysian government or a similar body?
