" OK "

Mon Feb 20, 2012 7:42 am

So if we forget the strengthening that never happened and we all concentrate on the current situation with what we have at our disposal.

We have Won 4 league games from the last 12.

Is there a problem ?

Is everything ok and its just a blip ?

Is it all going wrong ?

Is everything going to plan ?

Hi Annis - i think one of the big problems is the absence of Mark Hudson, love or loath him the defence plays so much better with him in there, i wouldnt touch Gerrard with a barge pole, his concentration levels just dont seem to be good enough.
A couple of loanees and i still think we`ll be there or thereabouts, plus get the final out the way and then go for it big time :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Morning Annis , maybe its just the fact that 1 or 2 players have picked up injuries plus 1 or 2 maybe just need a rest ..... also too many recently had 1 eye on Wembley and NOT on the job in hand ? Dont know what Darcy is doing wrong not to start infront of McNaughton recently too :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Re: " OK "

But we haven't lost them all :(

I am slightly worried, but really hope this is just a blip. Let's get Sunday out of the way and hope things improve.

Still confident of a play off place !!!

Hi Barrie,

I reckon we are def missing a leader on the pitch and yes like him or not, Hudson is a leader at the back. :ayatollah:
He makes mistakes but is a quality player for this division.

I would say it is all going to plan, carling cup final is a BIG bonus. Not sure the board ever intended bringing in the players that malky wanted, at the start of the season i would think most fans would of been over the moon at where we are right now. But those few extra players that we all want in, i'm sure would of made all the differance for our push for the prem (there is still time) :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Morning Martyn,
Yes I tend to agree with this that players have one eye on Wembley, they cant help it. I do think they have also got tired.

Re: " OK "

Problem is Annis, there are still some very deluded fans at our club that take comfort in us f**king up so as soon as there is a sniff of a bad run they all come out of the woodwork and start chipping in which we know from previous seasons, helps nobody!

Every team has a blip, in my eyes, we never had the type of squad to compete with the autos whether that's in quality or in numbers. People forget that we are still fighting a massive debt and I would still rather be financially stable than throw loads of money at a chance of promotion because if we fail, we could be another Pompey or Rangers, then what would those fans say.

Yes it's taking longer than most of us would like but we clearly have the info structure to do it but some of our fans seem to think we're this massive club that have a Devine right to play premiership football, we don't!

Everyone at this club has a job to do and whether that's TG and Vincent Tan, Malky, the tea lady or us as fans, we all have to move together in the right direction. The nay Sayers are always going to be there and some of the posters on this boards reaction Saturday was disgusting and quite frankly embarrasses this football club on a regular basis but I guess they will all reach pubity at some point and we can all move on.

Hopefully next Sunday will be a catalyst to a strong league push but whatever happens this season, it's still far beyond what we expected so let's just enjoy it for a change!

Wembley without a doubt is a superb bonus. I am not convinced we were ever going to spend millions.

Morning,
Yes, we all do need to be together when there is a blip or tough times. I will never stop going no matter what, but I use this forum to express my feelings and if we have lost take my frustration out. :ayatollah:

Re: " OK "

Mon Feb 20, 2012 8:06 am

I believe we have just simply burnt out, I think we have punched well beyond our weight and that we are no more than a slightly above average championship team. I also think as fans our biggest problem is that we expect to much, I stated at the start of the season that Id be happy to finish top 10 and Id stick to that. We have nothing special in our squad but we delude ourselves into believing we have, we have unity in a sense but not much use at this stage of the season when the legs are giving in far too quickly, thats when the heads drop.

BTW has anyone heard that Gerrard had a bust up with Malky after the Ipswich game.......?

Re: " OK "

Mon Feb 20, 2012 8:09 am

Im not convinced over the last minute signings we failed to get for several million quid plus the ridiculous amounts offered for Noone and Phillips .... Bellamy in the summer window was another 1 who defo got away , but was he ever in City's plans , and was Sordell too ? Just statements from the Club to keep us Ambassadors quiet in the hope we give them our hard earned cash yet again !!! Also is it me or does anybody else think Gestede is another dud who suffers from injuries a lot ?

Re: " OK "

Mon Feb 20, 2012 8:14 am

Annis, with resources available we have done very well. if we had been 10th all season no-one would moan however 6 points off top and a cup final has changed all that
We also need to end this nonsense about the Malaysians, VT runs a global conglomerate so he knows how run a (very) small business which is Cardiff City just as Malky knows how to manage a club, all the foundations are being set and we should all be grateful we are not in Rangers or Portsmouth's position

Totaly agree,to leave it till the last few hours of the window to buy players, not the way to do it. But now we got a nice week off from the league and not many give us any sort of a chance of winning, this is just the time we might (strange things happen in football) :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

What you say is, I think, is spot on. Gerard spends to much time telling others what to do and forgets he's still playing. There is a solidarity between the back five with Hudson. Having said that Gerard and Blake together at centre backs works better as proved at the end of last season.

Making Whittingham, who is so laid back and quiet, the captain seems to have had an impact on his performance. I'd have gone with MacNaughton.

I also think we are missing McPhail. Somebody to steady the ship when things are not going your way and give Whitts more time to create havoc.

All this other stuff about investment in players is a side issue. If it is there then you spend it wisely, not spend for the sake of it. Parkin is a classic example. Signed for a reasonable term of contract, no impact whatsoever and almost impossible to shift. If there isn't any investment you can't spend it! It's just cannon fodder for the keyboard warriors

I honestly think it that Blackpool will be the 3rd spot along with the Hammers and Saints, just shows you what a few signings can do even if you think they are over the hill. Just look at Holloways attitude when he was loosing to us, subs on and all out attack. As much as he annoys me its all or nothing for him.

As someone who is looking at the current results from the other side of the world Annis, I feel that the looming Carling Cup Final has played with the nerves of a lot of our players.

I am hoping for a great cup final performance from our beloved Bluebirds, win or lose, and then hopefully normal service will be resumed. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

TBH I think the problem is Vukcic, I'm not sure but I'm guessing that on a one month loan there's probably a clause in the deal that he has to play. I think by accommodating him we've had to change our system, so even though he's a quality player everything else isn't quite fitting around him.

Re: " OK "

Before Southampton beat Derby 4-0 last Sat they had won 3 in 12 league games yet no one is saying they are going to tumble like people on this board think we are.

We lost to Ipswich who beat WHU 5-1

We lost to Blackpool a fellow promotion rival

We lost to Leicester who have picked up and with the money they have spent are prone to a good result.

We miss Hudson no doubt, our manager is still young still learning and has openly said he thinks it will take until January 2013 to get the squad completed for a good push on promotion. It's a pitty not enough of our fans back the manager/players during a slump of form like this.

We could quite easily continue this slump for a few more games and then pick back up on the 'home run' get in the playoffs peaking form at the right time.

Re: " OK "

Mon Feb 20, 2012 10:09 am

I think it's down to the cup as well, but I also think we're desperate for new faces in the squad, especially after the cup, we've got 8 games in a month. With the transfer window, did he leave it to late or is he to fussy with players? Noone was never going to come, weeks ago there was a story in the echo, saying he was a target for malky, it also had him saying that he didn't want to leave Brighton he was happy there but it was the bosses choice. I'm not arssed about getting to the prem this season, I don't want to be a team everyone looks to get points from, battling to stay out of relegation, we get up there and we stay. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: But I'm happy with what he has done with the club so far, complete rebuild, I think we've all got a bit too excited with our position in the league, let's get this cup out the way.

Re: " OK "

Mon Feb 20, 2012 10:10 am

We are still there or there abouts - once Wembley is out of the way we can kick on ................play offs our only hope , top two was in range but needed two-four players that we never got . We need to be careful as teams are susting us out now .....this is where MM will earn his money :ayatollah:

Re: " OK "

Mon Feb 20, 2012 10:22 am

Every team have a blip, this is ours.
We need that touch of luck at the moment as well.

As mentioned we are lacking a leader, a Hudson or a mcphail.

Re: " OK "

Mon Feb 20, 2012 10:40 am

Look at Pompey, got promoted, won FA Cup, overspent and will be lucky to be in business next season never mind the championship!
Rangers going into admin also shows that no club is safe and clubs have to control spending .

I think if there was money then it was only for young talent with a resale value not loan players as the board got their fingers burnt last season on that strategy.

Saying that, once the final is out of the way , I would not be surprised if Malky attempted to freshen things up.

:ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Re: " OK "

Mon Feb 20, 2012 10:42 am

As strange as it seems the result of the final could determine how the rest of the season goes. If we win everybody will be on cloud nine and its possible that we could ride that wave all the way to the Premier League. If we lose the final we will probably end the season with a whimper.

Re: " OK "

Mon Feb 20, 2012 10:59 am

It's no coincidence that we have been shipping goals since Huson has been injured i also think despite all the protestations from Malky many of the players have had their minds on Wembley. We have also had a run of difficult fixtures where points were always going to be difficult to come by i expected between 5-6 points from our last 4 fixtures and in the event we got 3 :( but it's the first poor run we have had all season.

we now need to get Sundays game out of the way go there and enjoy the occasion players and fans alike and what wil be will be que sera :ayatollah:

Then we need to concentrate on the league we have been good enough up to now and have matched or bettered nearly every side we have come up against and i can't see no reason why we can't do that in our remaining games and secure a place in the Play Off's.Then if we get there we have more than fighting chance against any other side we might meet with Malky in charge and the work rate and effort from our players :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Re: " OK "

Mon Feb 20, 2012 11:00 am

Personally I think whatever happens Sunday it's likely there'll be a hangover of some kind effecting results which will see us needing to put a run together just to make the play-offs. Then it's up to the gods.

Whatever happens I will support Malky and the players - their attitude has been first class and the way they've brought the fans and club back together is awesome.

Realistically, I think we're looking at a charge for promotion (autos) next year.

:ayatollah:
