Going to annoy my colleagues on Friday...

Im a school teacher and we have a 'stars' assembly every Friday. We play music and sometimes show a video on the interactive screen - usually something to do with significant events from the week. Anyway, for every Welsh rugby international we have Welsh rugby songs (Calon Lan etc) and clips of tries etc, which is fine. Until, i asked if we could do something the Friday before the FA cup final and then the P-off final - both refused by headteacher as they 'weren't significant to the wider population of the school children / staff'

I am in charge of the Stars assembly for the 24th and have already downloaded the club crest and 'Three Little Birds' to play at the start / end of assembly. Keeping to myself for now, just going to do it and to hell with consequences - wish me luck

i understand the rugby can i ask when Wales plays football do you have the same thing or are you allowed to show the goals

I've tried arguing a case for football and he's such an arrogant dinosaur that he just says 'Rugby isour national sport and we have to keep it like that'. Then all the middle class female cronies who never get off their asses to watch any sport live chirp in with comments like....' you wont see rugby fans fighting each other' 'its a pleasure to be in town to soak up the atmosphere on a rugby international day - everyone is mixing together, not like football'............gets me wound up just typing it mate. I did actually put up on staff notiv=ce board a big article on how domestic abuse and common street assaults rise dramatically on the days/evenings of a rugby international though

You're really up against it there. Good luck to you, but you might be fighting a battle you have no chance of winning and it might be best for you to back down for the sake of your career.

Might be worth checking if any of the school governors have a City affiliation. Also worth checking which school 'policy' the Head is actually enforcing.

End of the day he is the boss, so agree with previous poster and don't go for confrontation - keep that feeling inside you that tells you how in the right you are

I give the match programme to my missus who takes them into her school - she teaches in the Cynon valley, boys up there love the City have to feel for them all, their Head is a Jack season ticket holder from Aberdare
