Rangers To Enter Administration

Just goes to show how difficult things are for football clubs. Stories like this make you think how lucky we are to have owners committed to reducing debt at our club.

Exactly, some of our fans act like spoilt brats. You only have to look at us a few years ago yet people demand transfers, like money grows on trees.
Looks at Pompey, now a huge club like rangers. We got it so good right now.

I seen a panorama or panorama type show last year about the rangers owner, he couldn't be any more dodgy.

Agreed I want success yesterday like most fans but when you see a huge club like Rangers at risk of going to the wall it is very sobering. Apparently they are worried over a HMRC claim for £49m in tax :o :o :o :o :o

Rangers and Portsmouth due in court next Monday and Forest facing the reading of Mr Doughty will on Wesnesday, apparently Forest owe his estate £77m in loans.

Where is it all going to end. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

With a big club going to the wall? might bring some sanity back into football then.

Maybe fans will start being grateful that we are a championship team challenging for promotion and in a cup final ?
So many teams are in financial trouble and we were so close to going out of business.

Let's start showing our appreciation tomorrow in out final home game before the Carling Cup Final. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

This is the dirty huns own fault for paying players with dodgy offshore accounts for over a decade to avoid tax. No sympathy for them whatsoever. Now what we did was pretty poor and it was terrible business to simply not pay these bills but to try and avoid it for so long is a bit stupid really.

Celtic - 10 in a row?

I wonder if Rangers do go to the wall, this will open the gates for Celtic to join the Premier League, just a thought :ayatollah:

I don't see why they should join the premiership. If they joined the English system it should be from the very bottom.

Re: Rangers To Enter Administration

Mon Feb 13, 2012 4:11 pm

Not a chance. While joining the premier league would mean extra revenue in tv money would you turn down the opportunity to have a shot at champions league qualification every season? The Football League would not have it either, best scenario would be for them to join the championship and I am sure clubs like Charlton, Sheff Weds, Sheff United would kick up an almighty stink about that.

The scottish league may be a bit mickey mouse but dont forget that the main reason why is tv money. If you leveled the playing field financially Celtic could easily compete with the top clubs in england within a few years. Yes their league is poor but they still get 50,000 people plus through their gates.

Fair point, I would be great to see them trying to get thousands of Celtic fans in the Away ends at Torquay and Exeter  :ayatollah:

Re: Rangers To Enter Administration

Mon Feb 13, 2012 4:34 pm

Perfect chance for them to join the football league from the bottom up. They have such a large and committed fan base they'll have no problem getting through the bottom divisions and will soon find themselves in the PL.
As well as the larger TV rights and added exposure they'll find themselves alright for money (pending half-decent owners of course) and could be a strong force in the UK in the next 10 years and even Europe in the next 20.

This is a massive loss for all fans of the SPL. Celtic are gonna be fucked without Rangers. No one will have interest in the SPL if Rangers go. No Old Firm will mean a massive loss in TV rights and will make the league even more irrelevant than it already is.

I fully expect Rangers to be able to stay in the league with their under 21 side

Note that I actually said that our previous owners behaved improperly, Rangers was just downright illegal

Re: Rangers To Enter Administration

Mon Feb 13, 2012 4:46 pm

I don't think there is a snowballs chance of Rangers joining the PL or FL because the SFA would never agree to it. Also the PL & FL are competitions for teams from England and Wales and such are approved ny Uefa.

I just cannot see Uefa ever approving this without the SFA agreeing to it and they won't even accept an Olympic G Football team.

It is sad, just shows that it can happen to the bigger clubs aswell as the smaller

Re: Rangers To Enter Administration

Like I said in another thread, it's areality check for clubs and fans alike...hopefully stopping the constant calls from some fans to spend spend spend. God knows what will happen with this.

With regards to Celtic moving south, I think sky have a major say. I'd happily start from the bottom to get away from here. Though if Celtic ended up in the premiership, our stadium wouldn't be anywhere big enough, it only holds 60-000 with 50 odd thousand expensive season tickets are sold every year to watch us play mostly crap. The numbers that would travel would be substantial. There were two buses from my area that went to inverness (a fair trip) and not a ticket between them. The same would happen in England. I don't think the clubs down south would want that, I think if sky want it to happen, it'll happen

It'll never happen.

Celtic move south, who do they replace and where? Only relegate 2 teams from the Championship? Prevent a team promoting?

No chance in hell it'll ever happen for numerous reasons.

I'm not on this forum to talk about Celtic, but I have to argue that point :D

Obviously its hypothetical, but if Celtic had the money epl clubs have at their disposal we would be a force quickly. The SPL, along with cash, is the reason we need to buy young talent, hope they do well and sell at a profit. Quality established players don't want to play in this league.

We have have plans to both increase the south stand and and extra tier..obviously this would never happen in the SPL...but if we did end up in England you would have a team playing infront of over 100'000 fans. Thats a club that needs to be taken seriously

Don't want to piss on your parade here mate but if clubs like Newcastle & Liverpool can't compete at the top of the EPL with all that money what makes you think Celtic will? Look at what clubs have had to spend to compete and be realistic.

Also, do you honestly believe that crowds of 100,000 will turn out???

You get 2 sell outs a season, and most other gates in the 45-53,000 bracket(and even those figures include season ticket holders who don't turn up) and only 33,000 turned out to see Atletico Madrid in a European tie. Rangers are exactly the same in terms of numbers.

For what it's worth, if Rangers do get into admin there is no doubt in my mind that they will return a bigger and stronger club and if they play it right they will be debt free. All these tims having a party about the imminent death of Rangers are deluded if they think that having no Rangers is beneficial to Celtic in the long term.

Like I said it's hypothetical, but rangers and celtic could get those crowds, I honestly believe that...icrowds are lower because the game is dead here, not the support. I've seen the demand for tickets when we draw a good side in europe, clubs like man u, liverpool, chelsea, arsenal, man city etc etc visiting would have the same effect. The support is there on both sides, celtic v everton has a lot more appeal than celtic v dunfermline. Not long ago we were selling out every week, as were rangers, it's expensive and the way things are now the love for a team isn't enough for some, they want value for money....they wont get that in scotland, but england?????

Re: Rangers To Enter Administration

Mon Feb 13, 2012 6:56 pm

I just can't see it mate, really can't. There will always be demand for big games, that goes without saying but Celtic v Wigan isn't anymore appealing than Celtic v Dunfermline. The novelty would wear off after a season. The Old Firm are no longer a pull up here, ten clubs long term wouldn't miss the two of you as they struggle to get a crowd at their home games these days when you come calling anyway. The Sky money will disappear up here because the product on offer is awful.

Celtic & Rangers priced fans out of the market to begin with, it's no wonder they are staying away in droves unless they are playing each other.

Here, I could be totally wrong here :D

The spl woulld improve if both sides left, suddenly you have 5 or 6 teams that can win a league and crowds go up. Hibs had bigger attendances in the 1st division than they did the year before or after promotion...maybe i'm feckn my own point here but fans want to see a winning side. You will know if you are in Clydebank, nearly everyone you speak with up here about football is either a celtic or rangers fan, and I bet hardly any actually go to the games? Maybe they aren't hardcore supporters, or just have better things to spend a couple of grand a season on...but playing against quality sides, drastic improvement in our side (which would happen) will attract people that don't attend games at present.

Yeah, celtic wigan might not be a huge attraction but we still get one of the biggest crowds in the UK at the moment, so it would be at least as busy as it is now. The top teams coming here would raise crowds, even if it's your ''tourist fans'' you see at man utd and the london clubs.

I'd love it, the scottish clubs left here challenging for titles would love it...sadly I don't think it will happen
