" THE REIGN OF MALKY MACKAY "

Fri Feb 10, 2012 11:14 pm

Malky has got off to a better start in his first season already than Dave Jones had in six years. Some say he "walks on water" and some say he is the best manager we've had for a while. But I write this thread to find out how you feel about him. Swansea fans are allowed to answer this as I would like your views on our manager.

My personal opinion

League
I don't think people expected us to be this high up in the table after just a bit over halfway through the season when Malky Mackay was signed from Watford. But here we are, he got off to the perfect start, winning 1-0 against West Ham, showing that the Championship is not easy to get out of, and just because it's not the Premier League, it doesn't mean we're not good sides, there have been some excellent teams down in this entertaining divison the past few years, such as Q.P.R and Newcastle. He went on to lose just three against Brighton, Peterborough and Middlesbrough and we unfortunately lost against Blackpool recently. It is always disappointing to lose a game but just four losses this far in is incredible, you look at teams like Coventry, who have lost seventeen games already. Malky is the manager we have been screaming out for for years, he certainly shouldn't have been assistant manager at Watford under Brendan Rodgers, he should have been out there taking up the managerial role, like he is now. I believe in ten years or less, he will be managing a top Premiership club, hopefully Cardiff City. We are currently fourth in the hardest and tightest league for years

Carling Cup
The Carling Cup final, is where Malky MacKay led us too. In his first season. Unbelieveable. Cardiff City will face Liverpool in Wembley Stadium on the 26th February. We made remarkable comebacks in the Carling Cup against Oxford Utd, Huddersfield, Leicester and Crystal Palace. Crystal Palace took the 1-0 lead in the first leg through Anthony Gardner's goal and Anthony Gardner scored again, but this time in his own net to equalise the aggregate score to 1-1. Kenny Miller missed the first penalty for Cardiff City. Cardiff-born and supporter Jermaine Easter bravely stepped up to take a penalty, on target, but saved by Tom Heaton! Craig Conway, who scored a 92nd minute winner against Portsmouth in the previous game stepped up and slammed the ball to the middle of the goal. Crystal Palace youngster Sean Scannell then stepped up for it, saved again! Shows of support from the Cardiff fans and players, especially Filip Kiss. Cardiff french striker was next for the responsibility, and calmly scored. Jedinak then had to score to keep the hope alive, and he scored. Cardiff were ahead by one penalty. Cardiff first choice penalty taker, Peter Whittingham then stepped up, and professionally, scored. Now it was Parr's turn to keep any chance alive for Crystal Palace. Missed. Cardiff are through to the final

I find it interesting that both Mackay and Rodgers are both flourishing after starting off at Watford. Still good mates as well apparently?

"I think that he's doing an excellent job for you, better than expected after taking over a club that was in a bit of turmoil in the summer."

That quote applies to Mackay now, and Rodgers 12 months ago... ;)
