Maybe they could think about building their own stadium, I'm not sure the council would be keen on over expansion because the rugby club would be playing to crowds that didn't need the extra capacity and shouldn't they have just as much say on any expansion as joint tenants?

There was a story last year that since moving into the stadium they hadn't even paid their bills to the council, hopefully this is all sorted with their premiership windfall but it shouldn't be a surprise that the council aren't doing them any favours if they weren't paying their bills.

I wouldn't have thought so for a season or two at least, then, if we do decide to expand, we find a suitable site nearby to shift the McDonalds too. The McDonalds drive in buildings are pre-fab and I've seen a video where they build one from start to finish in 24 hours, no big issue there. Reading between the lines, the Swans biggest concern here is that they might lose revenue on the stale cold cardboard shite that they call food in the Liberty.

Not the biggest fan of McDonalds by any means but the crap they sell in the Liberty is awful.

am i right in saying that your in the same boat as us with the catering where the lions share of all profits are with the inhouse caterer's.
I think as a club you either need to buy the liberty off the council or just redevelop elswhere if they dont play ball.
the most important factor about the liberty is i dont believe the foundations were put in place to expand the capacity of the stadium to suit your needs.

As far as the catering goes, I honestly have no idea so sorry, can't help with that one. As for the stadium, you are right about the foundations, no provisions were put in place for expansion so it will take major work before any expansion can take place. I heard a figure of around £15m for an extra 5,000 seats which would have to be built onto the stand that currently seats the away fans. Buying the stadium might be the way forward and there are rumours at the moment that the Ospreys are looking at options with regards moving, that would open the way.

As for the McDonalds, just for a laugh, the land they are looking to build on is apparently owned by Paul Guy and Mike Hall, something to do with Cardiff City I believe?

The expansion plans involve building up behind the existing structure in a similar fashion to the way Manchester United expanded Old Trafford, albeit on a much smaller scale.

I see no need whatsoever to buy the stadium.

If you see no need to buy the stadium are you really expecting swansea council and the local taxpayer to fund the expansion bearing in mind your track record with the rent.
How much do you think it would cost to buy the stadium as it stands.

The stadium was funded by the sale of retail land adjacent to the stadium site to create Morfa Retail Park and by football trust grants obtained by the club.

No doubt Jenkins thinks that Swansea council should force PMG to GIVE them the land required to expand the stadium, car-parks and exits. They've had everything else for f'ck all, so wy not.

Wheras if, as mentioned above the land does belong to them then they should be looking to get what they can off it.

Jenkins is a prize pr1ck. Love the way he talks about expanding a stadium that was never 100% full until this season and had to rely on tesco clubcard to sell tickets last season.

So where would you get the money and land from. Even in the current state land prices for a site for a stadium would cost £7-8 million at a guess (25-30 acres if you want car parking) plus payments need to go towards improving roads/public transport. Then you have to build the ground which would cost millions and the football trust/foundation would not pay as they already have made a huge contribution towards the liberty and their regulations have some rule that means they wont give the same club another payment if they have already contributed towards a development.

so basically then you as the tenants would build an extension on your landlords property at your cost.
thats like me renting a house having an extension built at my cost and then 3 years down the line the landlord gives me a notice to quit. do you think i would get my money back.

No, it would be paid for by Stadco.

Huw might want it done, but perhaps you can explain what will happen should the other partners within Stadco refuse on cost grounds.

After all, if Stadco aren't paying the council money, AFAIK, due to not turning a profit, where will the build money come from?
