stupid question but is the sound turned up on your pc? (always look for the obvoius first)
proper question what media are you using for play back MWP etc?, try VLC media player updates on its own with most codec's that are needed to play back all types of media
hope that helps

80% chance its to do with the Audio settings - or Codecs needed to run the media. Obviously check your audio and volume settings 1st, and try a pair of headphones/speakers in the green audio jack on the rear of you computer tower or laptop as well. some times the standard speakers on a lappy or desktop aren't set up to run 3rd party audio as well. If its none of that - I dont know!

looked at all the things that have been mentioned, no luck. although a message comes up saying that "a codec is Required" but i,m unable to identify the codec.
might try what was suggested earlier and try vlc media as i,m using windows at the mo

Sounds like the video is fine if it plays using VLC, the problem is with the program you originally tried to open the file with
Just use VLC to play everything, great little player

I have a Samsung and this has happened to me. I found out that my bluetooth was on and it was connecting to the PC, and then sound was showing as being enabled on my phone. I went to the icon of the speaker in the bottom tray, right clicked and changed the speaker mode back to the pc. Maybe this will help.
