Tom Heaton

Wed Feb 08, 2012 3:10 pm

Just met Tom down the Vale - what a smashing guy he is. Genuinely interested in talking about the city and no airs and graces unlike a certain number 14 who walked straight past despite a polite hello. Tom said he desperately hopes he keeps his place for Wembley but isn't counting his chickens. Personally, I think he should start on Saturday after a pretty average performance from Marshall against Blackpool and more arguing with Gerrard.

As an aside, as we left, we saw DJ drive past in a brand new gull wing Mercedes - good to see he's keeping OK on the pittance we continue to pay him...

Didn't really want to name him, but yes its Paul Quinn mate. Or he was, not sure if he still is as he never features this season.

Yeah, Heaton is very down to earth it seems. I'd definitely start him on Saturday but would certainly start him against Liverpool. I think that is inevitable. If Marshall was Schmeichel then I'd consider changing it for the final but there's little to choose between the two. I'm just in favour of Marshall overall but Marshall was poor last weekend and should be dropped.
