Loan players ...It won't be easy

Wed Feb 08, 2012 12:01 pm

Given the information we know regarding the criteria that Malky insists on and the fact there will be a dozen or so clubs after our targets...everyone must surely understand that it will not be as simple as some people think to bring in Loan players....or will his thinking change in an effort to get a player that will only be here for three months?

What is the criteria?

1.Should be better than we have and improve the team.
2.Must not be a disruptive influence in the dressing room
3.Will have to have passed the scrutiny of our transfer and recruitment manager.

There probably are other factors as well including the signing on fee the loanee club will ask for and the percentage of wages we have to pay...so all in all it will not be an easy task... hopefully an awful lot of preparation as gone in to this already and targets are being tracked down...it will be an interesting week or two waiting for these loan deals to happen....if they do happen.

I still think getting players in just to satisfy the fans impatience or as a knee jerk reaction to just sign anyone would be a backward step to the Dave Jones days(although he got a good few right, he also brought in expensive players who let us down) and I would prefer nobody to sign rather than a bad signing.

Corky
Good points made. I agree it will be difficult to bring in players that have the same work ethic as the players already at the club.

We have to believe that Malky knows who he wants and will get them in.

I would definately like to see 2or 3 players come in to help with tiredness or injuries, but if we dont im staying away from this message board because the miserable bunch will come out to play

i dont think anyone will come in without fitting the criteria of your 3 points. although malky did have two lists in the transfer window which were permanents and loans so i would expect the homework has already been done just persuading firstly managers and then the players themselves that its the right move for all parties

We as a club find everything hard work if it means spending money

I hope Malky has got a long list because I would rather see someone off the bottom of a long list than nobody at all, as it would lift the moral of all concerned and provide some cover.

If I had a job to do, but was short of people to do it, I would rather put somebody in that was as good as or not far off, than have no replacement. sure I would want somebody who was almost guaranteed to do an awesome job but sometimes desperate times call for desperate measures. Granted if they were total s@@t or upset everyone then you could be better off putting a square peg in a round hole, but there must be a lot to think about in what must be a difficult and complicated recruitment process.

Malky will only sign players on loan with a view to a permanent transfer in the summer. So look for players whose contracts are up in the summer, that's all Im going to say ;)

People think it is like Football Manager to sign loan players. It's not easy at all.

Very sensible post Corky.

Malky doesn't suffer fools and I would not be surprised if we didn't sign anyone till the summer window.

And I still think we'll be knocking on the door of promotion.
