Around 1974, my small mob from Trelewis were involved in a battle with some Cefn Forest teenagers one night who had attacked one of our lot who was on a date over there, there must have been ten of us but we could not find anyone to blame for attacking our mate...anyway as we got back to Pengam to get home...a mob of over fifty skinheads in all the gear were in our bus stop and before we realised it we were surrounded...What you fecking lot doing, where you from etc etc...shit we were in trouble...but when we told them why we were there they also had a feud with the Cefn Forest lads so they befriended us and for the next five years we allied ourselves to them....
The Webs...Moth, and his brother Spider, the fearless Bristler and his Griffiths brothers, Rob Gordon and Cabbage, Jammy, Dai Con,Winstone and so many more I cant remember now....Dai Chard the axe man...Viv Hinder...all good lads....there must have been over seventy of us at times and I often ended up in Juvenile court until it came to a head one day when a large gang came to Bargoed to attack us, unbeknown to them that we knew they were coming and there was carnage, I am sure one of them was thrown off the viaduct near Bargoed station....there were many arrests and many beatings...lots of things went on but it was teenage gang stuff and the oldest lad I can remember at the time was 22...
Often we would go on summer trips to Barry looking for bikers or mods and often we would go to Cardiff games most of us in White butchers coats and Doc martins and jeans halfway up our shins...and try to take on the grangend to no avail lol...but the biggest fights usually happened on the trains against Ivor Lower, the Yo twins and the Caerphilly boys...especially under the long tunnel just before Caerphilly...long time ago now and I lost touch with them all thirty years ago.

Tue Feb 07, 2012 12:58 am
Melvyn must have been after my time mate...there were a few lads from the Brithdir Gestapo (I kid you not) that were top lads, but again I can't remember their names. one of the roughest lost his life due to vomit sticking in his throat on a drinking binge...

Dungeon days when people started to drift off! Im no patriot, drugs, music and bollux i drifted! Early 2000's fanny and a top night out was my medicine. I'm not a liar that was what we used to do! Maybe 4 of us would be on the train out of 50 who said they would through the week. ..............."what a load of rubbish* sang by us was sang many times! Who remembers?

Didn't the BM come unstuck against the Caerphilly Boot Men once???
Tue Feb 07, 2012 12:18 pm
You are talknig about the Royal Bargoad Mafia. Basically a rip off of the film Clockwork Orange. I few years before my time but my older brother was involved, not with the Bargoed lot but opponents of them.
I know it was really, really nasty with things like battery acid regularly used on people. I know one lad from the next street to me was tied to a back of a lorry and dragged.
When I was a teen in school we had a bit of a meet with a rival gang from Gilfach (just outside Bargoed) and the police went mental for fear of it all kicking off again.

I grew up with that lot, wild as fook always fights outside lookal "dances", pulling into the Brad and Caerphilly stations, used to raise the adrenilin on the way down, Chardy was a character, remember him one day we were going through that tunnel when a fight broke out, Dai had one them pinned to the floor, think it was one of the Yowes, opened the train door and shouted hes going out, while trying to do it, with others dragging him back in! Dai was a really nice funny chap really.
Another occassion on way back from a Chelsea game at NP, someone pulled the chord on our train which stopped above where the London train goes underneath, the London train stopped also, with the two mobs lobbing stones at each other
Tue Feb 07, 2012 2:03 pm
Think I rememeber the Brithdir lot used to be allied to Hells Angells together with Rhymney "Red Legs", remember the Jones boys from the Gestapo the younger brother Billy died outside Bargoed youth club in October 1977, came off Jarmans moped, I was with them that night
While our lot were Skinheads

Remember the lads that used to swing from the trusses of the old Grange End roof while the rest of the boys chanted,
"Spot the looney! Spot the looney! Spot the looney! Spot the looney!"

Rick I had a kick in one night in that club near the roundabout, on the Brad side, silly going there really as there was only 2 of us

about a dozen of them, had a beating inside, covered in claret, good job the bouncers got me a taxi on not chucked my out
Tue Feb 07, 2012 3:36 pm

the corbetts country club.
me being a brad boy had kickings off both bargoed and caerphilly boys in my time. spent a couple of years working with cabbage and a few of the lads in the eighties.
i was also on the train when the chord got pulled against chelsea they were mad days.
I also remember being on the same train as the bargoed boys when the train pulled into queen street only for the bargoed lot to be met by a large mob of barry boys apparantly they had given one of the barry boys a kicking weeks earlier but that was the way it was then when all groups from all over used to fight each other on the grange end but the big mobs of man utd and then chelsea that came to ninian park galavnised all the valleys, barry and cardiff into the one mob

Not that Corbetts club incident, a few years before when i was still in school. Early seventies,,skinheads & all.
There was even a story going around that someone had his dick cut off by the BM.
Tue Feb 07, 2012 3:59 pm
Some days they were, madest fooker was Bristler, didnt give a fook for anyone, didnt go to a lot of City games, but I remember our lot got turned over by the Yowes mob at one game, next game Bristler came, got to Caerphilly, hes straight to them, you the Yowes, next thing he waded straight into them, big grin on his face.
Few years later he won 40k on the Sun bingo, which was a lot then, blew the lot in a few months!

Another gang i told about [if true] from the Hengoed area was the Cascade SS. About 1977???
Tue Feb 07, 2012 4:05 pm
Yes thats right it was the Corbetts Rick, around 77, I was really stupid going there, I remember played a midweek game in Merthyr and me and one of the other lads decided to go there after the game, bad move
The incident you are on about was about 74, I think.
Tue Feb 07, 2012 4:08 pm
I started going to the Corbetts around that time, with Pwll y Pant boys. Some times a mean Saturday night, we were all banned eventually.
Tue Feb 07, 2012 4:11 pm
You are right about the SS, think they were allied to the Mafia, most of the time as were Fochrew etc while you had Rhymney, New Tredegar, brithdyr, the Brad and Caerphilly as " the enemy" Ystrad used to drift back and 4 with that little mouthy tw*t Paul Bishop, Ray s brother.
Tue Feb 07, 2012 4:22 pm
You are right there Steve, in all of that, all the different local mobs used to kick off with each other, walking on the old grange end, youd here Barry boys we are here, Bargoed boys we here etc, but when UTD etc came to town it brought them together, remember the old chants to the away fans, " Its a long way to Cardiff general its a long way to go", "youll never make the station", and youre going in the taff". Used to be a hard old b*stard from the brad around 77, Nashy or something like that?

If its the person im thinking of, i was in the same school as Nashy? Although i didn't know him, he was hard as a kid.
The last time i saw him, many years ago, he was a bouncer in the Top Rank, at least i think it was him.
