is conway right footed?

Sun Feb 05, 2012 10:52 am

He struggles on the left at times. He defo getting better and when he played in front of me 1st half he worked really had but wasn't being played through by our midfield.

The point is everyone says he isn't beating his man and crossing...but when I look at him close he seems right footed so he he is on wrong side to whip balls in...hence why he keeps cutting inside and back.

On another point cowie is not a winger so why is he out there and ralls inside?

I think conway on the right will see more penetration

What you think?

Thing is it would take a change of formation or a rest for Cowie for that to happen but I agree Conway is not direct enough most of the time.

Just my opinions ...

Conway is definitely right footed but always prefers to play on the left which means he normally does cut inside to cross. What annoys me at the moment is that when he does have the opportunity to cross he doesn't do it, instead he tries to cut further and further inside to shoot. The fact that we dont have much heading ability in the middle probably doesn't encourage him to put the ball in.

Cowie isn't a winger in that he doesn't hug the sideline and look to take people on, he sits inside and really needs an overlapping full back to be at his most effective. Mcnaughton does his best but his crossing isn't good enough so our right side does look a bit of a blunt weapon. If we had a right footed Taylor on that side we would be better going forward but would miss mcnaughton's defensive qualities. Cowie does a lot of covering and makes our midfield look a lot more solid than it is by not constantly hanging out wide.

Yesterday and a couple of times recently malky has made quite an attacking tactical change in the second half which is quite refreshing but I think as soon as we got our goal yesterday we should have packed the midfield again rather than staying 442. Bringing mason on opened up the game but once we went ahead we couldn't close it up again.
