They play at the most twice a week

I work everday

The simple answer is the other team wanted it more

Nor me, we just don't have the quality or depth of other teams. We shit ourselves when Phillips came on, they just buzzed and could smell the poo.

There is nothing on our bench than mediocre players and I'm not even convinced anything coming in on loan will help us out, I'm not even convinced we'll get anyone. Lots of noise in the last loan window, lots of noise in the January sales, lots of noise about the loan opening shortly - feck all happening to really go for promotion - Same old City!!

That's not negative - THAT'S FACT :old:

It does make me wonder if we were "sincere" in the so called bids that we made in the transfer windows.
Previous regimes had done the same!

Blackpool always want it more than us and right from the start they were better than us.

Team yesterday

Marshall
McNaughton
Taylor
Gerrard
Turner
Whitts
Cowie
Conway
Gunnarsson
Ralls
Miller

so in reserve we have

Heaton (quality keeper could easily be number one)
Blake (Welsh international )
Harris (not sure hopefully class)
Gestede (raw but has done a reasonable job)
Mason (scored goals at this level, pretty good signing)
Hudson (Captain and good championship defender)
Naylor (very useful squad player)
Quinn (see Naylor)
Kiss (class player at this level)
McPhail (lots on here raving about his recent form)
Earnie (can still score goals at this level)

I know some of the above were injured but that's a pretty healthy squad. Let's not over react to an off day.
Keinan (Israeli international, useful defender at this level)

i agree ... a few years ago i was running 80 miles a week and still working 4 10 hour shifts a week and racing anything from 3 miles to half-marathons every weekend! ... footballers live a great lifestyle and should never ever be tired!

We are lacking pace and players who can run at defences. Watch Bellamy run at us, from deep, at Wembley. Defender's do'nt like it. If we are going to constantly attack down the flanks, teams are going to get wise to us.

Blake (Welsh international ) Needs to sort his social life out!
Harris (not sure hopefully class)
Gestede (raw but has done a reasonable job)
Mason (scored goals at this level, pretty good signing)
Hudson (Captain and good championship defender) - not in my view
Naylor (very useful squad player) - time to go
Quinn (see Naylor) - time to go
Kiss (class player at this level) - needs games
McPhail (lots on here raving about his recent form) - syndrome must be driving him mad
Earnie (can still score goals at this level) - wrong to bring him back!

Which makes it all more creditable how well we are doing. We just need a bit of quality and strength to push on that little bit!

With all due respect mate that's rubbish!

It's not so much physical tiredness as mental. These players are expected to raise themselves to play to the same high standard usually twice a week.
If we are honest most of us can say we can go to work, have an off day and get away with it!

Our players had their first of day since before xmas yestersay and look at the response on this message board. personally i think it's ridiculous.

I didnt realise gwyns speech only applied until we lost a game. i honestly think some of our fans need to take a good hard look at themselves and realise they support a championship team!
If our team didnt have off days we'd be supporting a champions league team (and even they have plenty of off days)

What a load of absolute bollocks.

Blackpool "want it more"...

We thrashed them at their place, albeit we never got the three points

We're third.

So Blackpool obviously dont "want it" as much as us every other week.

We will lose games. Shit happens. Get over it lads.

West Ham lost 5-1 to Ipswich, they bounced back with a great 10 man win
against their biggest rivals, are we now saying our season is over cos of one
bad performance?

Couldn't agree more!

good post TA there is way too much negativity on here sometimes it makes me cringe, ffs we lost a game it happens

Re: Sorry don't buy into this tired theory

It is physical tiredness though. Anyone who has watched more than one game of ours this season will know that our game is based around high intensity pressing. That takes A LOT out of you and bare in mind that players like Cowie and Miller have played a lot of games this season, of course they can be tired.

With all due respect, the OP about working all week is bollox because so do these guys. They don't just play a game every week, they train all week too and I can't imagine Malky is the sort of manager that would let them off with easy sessions.

To say "blackpool wanted it more" is totally dis-respectful to our players. Im sure they wanted the 3 points just as much as blackpool, we just had an off day, shit happens!

It doesnt matter what this club does or "DOESN'T DO",we'll still have the same bunch of moaning and whingeing bunch of twats coming out of the woodwork to put someone at our club down.

Totally agree.

Everyone has an off today and we are no different to any other team.

Spot on :ayatollah:

There are certain posters on here that almost enjoy a poor performance so that they can claim that the owners/players aren't up to it. Some of them actually claim to be "City fans through and through" :o

We've still lost less games than any other team in the Championship and lie 3rd in the table. We may moan about a lack of creativity and ability to unlock tight defences but not the desire of this team. The point TA makes regarding West Ham last week is very valid, have we lost two league games in a row this season ? I don't think we have and that demonstrates the commitment to ensuring performances very rarely dip for long.

Saturday was the first game this season where I would say we were poor. Even after playing badly we managed to grind out a lead only for some poor individual play to kill us off. But it's one game and we are in a fantastic position to push on, it's a time to get behind this team because this is where the support can really make a difference.

I honestly think that if this team fails it will be purely down to a lack of ability, not a lack commitment which is probably the complete opposite of the last 3 seasons :ayatollah: Give the team a break and let's just see what Saturday brings.

For me the tennis the other day puts this into perspective, Novak Djokovic played a 4 hour 50min match on a friday vs Andy Murray, then 2 days later played for almost 6 hours in the final vs Nadal.

Got it right first time...Blackpool were by far the better team...Cardiff were 2nd best..pity but thats the way it goes sometimes...Still in with a shout, but need 3 good players that can step right in to the team....one striker...winger...central midfielder...the rest of the team need a kick up the arse!!...They just did not perform to their usual standards...got to keep raising the tempo, sadly that didnt happen on saturday..scoreline tells it all..hope we dont meet them in the playoff final!!

Re: Sorry don't buy into this tired theory

My theory about Saturday.

Blackpool are a good team, with some quality players and premiership parachute payments, but we made them look like Real Madrid. Why ?

1. Players are tired- Half way through the season, may as well pack our bags now.

2. We have struggled all season to play against an aggressive 433 it keeps our full backs defending and gives us little width

3. The conditions. Same for both teams agreed, but out pretty, quick short passes seemed to lack the snap of the previous games, whereas Blackpool launched the ball 30 yards up field to their athletic front three, bypassing the crowded midfield. We looked better in the second half, when we took a midfielder off to be replaced by a deep forward.

4. MM got his tactics totally wrong - Lets try two strikers at home

I hope it was 3 as it was a horrendous day, and perhaps the pitch was a bit heavier than usual. Anyway lets hope it was a one off
