Family stand!

Sun Feb 05, 2012 9:00 am

I'm a ticket holder in there along with my son Cameron but yesterday I was offered the chance to go into the main grandstand with my cousin and I was shocked to see how empty the family stand was!!! Is it like that at every home game?

Re: Family stand!

Could have been the bad weather yesterday.

Along with my 2 boys we've had ST's in the Family Stand for 3 years we go to most games including pre-sesson Parma/Celtic along with all the home Carling Cup Games and have friends who use our tickets if we can not make it (rather break a rule than have the seats empty). Some of the seats around us have been used for less than 10 games in total over nearly 3 years. They should only renew tickets if ST holders attend a set amount of games as some people buy the £10 under 9 tickets just to have extra space.

Just my two pence worth :old:

Always looks pretty bad from the Canton to be honest. Seems to be lots of empty seats every game.

Yes it is and I get reminded of it every game Pokie with texts from people in the Ninian Stand and Canton Stand.

Ninian Stand fair enough but Canton Stand had more empty seats than the family stand yesterday and plenty of other games, yet there are plenty of people scrambling for Wembley tickets. And I hope nobody blames the snow as a problem for the empty seats otherwise I will have to remind them of the weather conditions for the FA Cup semi final against Barnsley.

I agree, every game but the Palace home, it has always looked the emptiest part of the ground, yet sold out every game.

Funny that carl I was just about to say exactly that about the Barnsley game mate! I'm also certain that if we had been playin Liverpool yesterday regardless of the little bit of sleet that fell we'd have had a full house!!

When selling these cheap kids tickets adults should be warned that if the card is not used frequently then it will be revoked! Simple!!! I know plenty of loyal fans dying to get in family stand but can't as the fooker is sold out??????

Kevin,

Julian Jenkins has been looking at this and is trying, but the club are finding it hard to come up with a solution, they admit there is a problem.

It's not usually as bad as yesterday. But there are always a lot of empty seats dotted around. The lower end of the Canton looked pretty bad yesterday, also.

Re: Family stand!

I think we all are going to have to come to terms with the unfortunate fact that a lot of people are customers of the football club rather than supporters.
Yesterday was a prime example showing how many customers the club has, with the family stand being half empty and by how many people left early. Supporters stay and Support. Customers only see what they want to see.

Re: Family stand!

It might be a problem if we actually ever sold out for a game, but until then, who gives a f**k, empty or not, the club as had some money for them, unlike seats in other stands that are empty for all games.

my boy whos 9 hasn't missed a league game in 2 years, even when we have night games, theres loads when it comes to night games that only the dads turn up etc. makes you laugh as well when they bring their 4 or 5 yr old and they play on the ds or psp right through the game, if the kids are not interested why take them, move seats, if my boy was like that i would move back over to the ninian stand. i think alot there are only in theer to get the cheap seats if im honest

That is a good point, if you pay for the seat then it is your right whether you use it or not but there is the other problem that people who wish to turn up on the day cannot go in the family stand as it is sold out and these people won't folk out the extra cost of sitting elsewhere.

theres a lot of under 9s in there which are free, they are the ones who are missing

Gwyn/Carl,
I disagree with this though,£10 for a season, no wonder they don't go.
Also it does look awful on TV, I was watching last night, it does look like we are struggling to fill it.

Many fans are using it to get cheap tickets, but that is how life is. Going to be very hard to solve.

Well i think if the kids dont come for a few games then club should send letter out and if it keeps happening make the ones move and pay extra, only fair.

But, they would still be empty? surely, when we sell out then surely the club will have to offer a buy back scheme or at least monitor usage, at the end of the day, is if someone buys a season ticket for a train to London, and don't use it, what do you do.

your right Gwyn it probably wont work, but the club have to do something to try and sort it out though. i dont care who sits in the seats as long as we get the crowds in,

Exactly the same applied to me, ST holder with son in Family stand, have access to Premier seats also through a mate so took the comfortable option yesterday (nice hot complimentary coffee HT too).

Regarding weather, probably quite a few decided to give it a miss, but I always drive to games except yesterday decided take the train, when I mentioned this to my son he turned his nose up and thought about not going. He was told to put an extra layer on & wise up, these are supposedly our next generation of City fans, need to toughen up a bit we're too bloody soft on them ;)

Little git had me with a couple of corking snowballs getting off train afterwards mind!

likes been said when we aint selling out its not much of a problem but surely the club know the ones who are constantly missing game????????????i know the kids are our future support but if a seat aint being used or has only been used ahandful during the entire season thenthe club should stop them renewing or tell them that if the ticket isnt being used they have the right to cancel the ticket???????

i took my daughter yesterday but wish i hadnt it was freezing and the conditions driving home were terrible and not worth risking. next time the weathers like that i wont take her.
Can people from other stands ( canton ) worry about their empty seats before keeping on about the family stand

Re: Family stand!

I know plenty of people who would like ST in the family stand but every year are told it's full,

See plenty of adults in there w/o kids every game.....................no excuse!!!

Me the Mrs and my 2 boys have to sit in the Granstand section as we cant get in the FS yet we see the same old seats empty every week.
