MALKY TERRIBLE AT SUBS

Sat Feb 04, 2012 7:36 pm

I absolutely love Malky. But I noticed that his subsitution choices today were terrible. When pushing for a goal, you should bring a striker on, Joe Mason, he did that right but when you push for another goal to settle things, you do NOT take off the best defender and replace him with someone who is prone to mistakes. Then when you want to score an equaliser, you do NOT replace him with a player that is completely unfit and on a bad run. He should have brought Kadeem Harris on as he is a quick and creative winger. Also they don't know anything about him and that would be a threat to them. Rob Earnshaw should also have been brought on as they wouldn't have been expecting him so they wouldn't have been studying him!

Maybe Malky is just a good people manager and didn't bring Harris into a game we were getting completely outplayed in.

Football is a game of confidence and what do you think a game like that would've done to a new 18 year old player at our club? How much of an impact do you really think he could've had, playing in a game with players he'd only just met in a system he's not used to.

Maybe he brought on Gestede for Miller as he felt we were getting done in midfield and we needed to start retaining possession when playing long ball, instead of the CB's winning it in the air everytime we played the ball forward and therefore their midfield being abl;e to pickup more possession and put added pressure on us.

But no, you're right, Malky is a shit manager who wouldn't know a good subsitution if it bought him a Happy Meal from across the road.

Compare that to ollie's sub. Spot on. To be fair Malky pretty short of game changing subs to bring on.

To be fair he had Gestede ready to come on before we conceded the goal.

Oh dear, dear me.

Itwasn't Ralls type of game.

Brought on Mason, he scored.

McNaughton was injured, rather put Heaton on full back would you?

Not having the calibre of player's Blackpool had on their bench, did'nt help. We were'nt at our best today, but it was'nt until they went 4-3-3 that they really looked dangerous. thank God the final whistle went when it did, or it could have been a cricket score.

No, keep McNaughton on! There was nothing wrong with him! Should have put Harris on for Conway, who has been playing a lot recently, 90 mins in all of Pompey, Palace and Soton

Brought Mason on he scored, players have to take responsibility, Taylor, Gerrard and Marshall all have lots to blame. Felt Kiss should have played personally. But we have a young manager and there are bound to be times when he is learning. We shouldn't expect him to be perfect 100% of the time.

today was just one of those days...

i didnt think blackpool were all that. just they won midfield. and kevin phillips may be 78 but if you can finish like that...

malky's only mistake today in my opinion was making whitts captain... i dont think its in his make up to lead like that.
