A forum for all things Cardiff City

As the Olympics draw closer and the Govt, media etc try to drum up excitement and interest I was wondering what views are held by other forum members.
Personally I am not looking forward to it at all. Wales is getiing some football games and that is about it I think.
The cost is rising and the genuine amateur competitor is being replaced by professionals from the various sports.
It is more to do with the hosts trying to outdo the previous games. Apart from a few track events I wont be doing much watching - roll on the new season and Premiership football for the Bluebirds!!

i do a sports development unit, and the reason they got the olympics was because of the leagacy they promised, and there wont be a legacy after the games! people arent inspired by the olympics, and people wont take part more because of it as a result, and participation levels wont rise either, so its costing a fortune for no good reason

If i am honest i have no interest them whatsoever and that includes the football.I dont know why but it just doesn't excite me.

im the same i dont like the olympics i dont mind track and field so much but most the events to me are boring and its more or less usa china australia and russia winning all the time.

The cost is ridiculous, and as is said above its trying to out do everyone else it should be just here s the track get on with it

Simply not interested. A mixture of growth steroids, and armchair nationalism. And olympics football is not a serious competition. Beckham making an appearance?

Think I'll be going to the cinema a lot over the summer. Once the Euros are over, of course

I'll be glad when it's over it's going to be rammed down our throats.
I like the sports hope we do well but the promo will be too much for my liking.

I read somewhere that the budget from the soft British taxpayer is 9.3 billion pounds and the government is looking at cutting 20 billion pounds from the NHS budget in the next few years.
It's a no brainer for me. Don't spend a f***ing penny of our money on a sports event and save lives instead. D'oh!

Couldn't agree more.
Expensive for the country.
Over paid competitors with big egos
Sports (well they are called sports) majority of people never heard of.
We all pay and London gets all the benefits
