It Was The Most Difficult Situation We've Faced For A While

Gus Poyet on the attempt by Cardiff City to sign Brighton And Hove Albion Winger Craig Noone.

Albion boss Gus Poyet has revealed his relief at keeping hold of Craig Noone after strengthening his defence on transfer deadline day with a double loan signing from West Brom.

Left-back Joe Mattock and right-back Gonzalo Jara Reyes have joined the Seagulls for the rest of the season, Chile international Jara Reyes for the second time.

But it was a text from Noone, confirming Cardiff had failed in their persistent attempts to land the winger, which pleased Poyet the most. The only departure instead was striker Will Hoskins to Sheffield United in another loan deal for the rest of the season.

The Argus understands Cardiff made at least one improved offer for Noone after a bid of about £450,000 for the Liverpudlian, regarded by Albion as insulting, was rejected earlier in the January transfer window. Poyet told The Argus: “It was the most difficult situation we’ve had for a while, more difficult than Benno (Elliott Bennett and Norwich) last January. I’m absolutely delighted he is with us. As you can imagine he is already talking about Liverpool (FA Cup).

“It went to the wire. The last I heard, at two or three o’clock in the afternoon, it was still going on and then afterwards I got a text from Nooney to say it was finished. It’s relief and happiness.”

So when Carl posted on Tuesday afternoon that the Noone transfer was still on the cards he was right, and thats straight from the horses mouth.

It appears the deal was done with Brighton and it was Craig Noone himself who informed Gus Poyet that he would not be moving to Cardiff, obviously personal terms could not be agreed. The mention by Poyet of not knowing what was going on until after 3.00pm also fully supports Malkay Makay who has said the club moved for Sordell at about 4.00 pm when the Craig Noone transfer move fell through.

Well done Carl "Spot On" again with your updates not only on the transfer, the improved bid but also booking the medicals.

Annis Carl was Spot On and I know it's fashionable to rubbish Carl over these updates but in my opinion it goes well beyond reasoned discussion.

Once again Carl has been proved to be not just Spot On but Dead On Balls Accurate

Annis people must get very jealous or they have some type of phobia? Why on earth would Carl leave himself wide open fora the snippers to attach him? Obviously he was given correct information which he passed on to us, its not his fault that Noone turned us down. Silly move by him as we will be playing Liverpool home and away next year. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Can't believe Noone chose to give up a better possibilty of premiership football for a FA cup tie they will probably go on to lose!

Every transfer window, it's always the same.

Carl posts a rumour --> People believe implicitly --> Rumour doesn't materialise --> Burn him!! Burn him!! --> Burn the burners!!

I personally think noone was just entering talks with us to secure a better deal with Brighton in the future,im glad it didnt happen in the end id only be happy with players who 100% want to be at Cardiff and that includes premiership players on loan,

Id rather have one of the lads from the academy in the side then someone whos heart is not in it

In Malky(and Carl) we trust :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Carl was spot on. Noone pulled out last minute. Even Gus Poyet did not know what was happening. Nuff said :ayatollah:
