Pele

I'm of the age where i can remember the great Brazil sides of the 50s..60s and 70s and a certain player called Pele,my first memory of him was in the World Cup in Sweden in 1962,needles to say he was outstanding and if memory serves me correctly he was only 18 at the time, today i took the opportunity to look at young Kadeem Harris in some video clips of him playing on You Tube and was struck by the similarity's in some aspects of his play to the great Pele, now i know what I'm saying her seems very left field but i ask those of you who can remember the great man playing to look at those video clips of young Harris and let me know what you think, let me make it clear Kadeem is well short of the finished article but with careful handling and proper coaching i think Malky may have pulled another gold nugget out of the hat,to preserve my reputation as being a right sour puss on here i will end by saying I'm properly getting to carried away

I think you'll find that the World Cup in Sweden was in 1958 - Pele was seventeen. He scored his first ever World Cup goal in the quarter final against Wales in a 1-0 win, a goal he has descibed as the most important of his career. He scored a hat-trick in the semis and two goals in the final - unbelievable for anyone let alone a 17 y/o but then he was to become the greatest player the game has ever seen (IMO.)

He's one of only two players to have scored in 4 consecutive World Cup final tournaments - anyone know the other one?

My dear EllBoy i must apologize for my laps in memory I'm afraid it a mixture of advancing years and a lot of medication i have to endure,i hope you will make the effort to see young Harris on You Tube and let me know what your assessment is because it would seem from your post you possess a good knowledge of Pele

I'm not old enough to give a true assessment of pele as i've only seen archive footage of him. The best player i have ever seen is without doubt maradona.
the guy was absolutely incredible. what he done in 86 will probably never be seen again. Not only that but he basically carried napoli to the top of serie a, in a time when italian football was the best in the world.
The only person who comes near him in my life time so far is messi. The similarities between the two are incredible. i think messi is gonna become the best club player (but in a better team) though i dont believe he'll ever acheive what maradona did for argentina.

As for kadeem, having watched youtube clips of JET and Quincy i have learned not to get too carried away by a "montage", but i will say that he looks lightning and definitely can use either foot, which is rare these days :ayatollah:
