Lets be honest we are in same position as last 3 years !!!!

Wed Feb 01, 2012 12:57 pm

Lets be honest we are in same position now as the last 3 years under Dave Jones..................for last 3 years Jones had us in similar position to now 2nd/3rd/4th going into Feb/ March and we have failed to cross the final hurdle.

If anything we had larger squads with more quality. Having been to the game last night, are we going to get by with 'huff and puff' performance which lacked any real quality? I think not. Yes we will stay in the hunt but are we asking too much for a top 2 finish?

Some will say I'm being negative on what is a great season so far ...................but I really feel if we going to reach the promised land then we should of got 3 or even 4 players in like other clubs do.

We have hard run early March with big games coming out of our ears and I really worry this season will follow the Dave Jones years and slip away from us.

On a plus point since I started following city in 1995it's been amazing 17years with crowds going from3,000 to 22,000 and us visiting wembley 4 times, promotions etc. The old school must be loving it after years of hurt.

we tried to get players in...what would you have Malky do, his top targets fell through for whatever reason, so he should do a Dj and get in JLS, JET and Stephen Bywater???? just splash cash for the sake of it.....bet you wouldnt be saying this if it were your money!

Can someone please merge all the moaning threads into one?

Or will that leave just a couple of other threads to read?!

I'd bee more than happy with a playoff place because I think this current team and manager have got the bollox to finnish the job this time! Never realy entered my mind that we would finnish top 2 this season after the massive changes we have had at the club during the summer! I think us fans need to chill out a bit and just go with the flow and enjoy the great season we are having :ayatollah:

Lads not tryin to be negative but just being relaistic and honest on the outlook, this is a message board for chat at the end of the day!!!!!even witnessing our woreful 2nd half last night I still thought we could win. I also said we are having a great season and the way Malky is with the fans and players is refreshing as Jones lost everyone in the end.

Up the city maybe I should of put this on before my rant

Actually we are in the best position, after 28 games, than we have been in any season since our return to Championship level. More points, fewer defeats, highest League position, failing in score in fewest number of games, undefeated in highest % of games, scoring first in the highest % of games, I could go on.

We got a great point last night away at a team with the best home record, most goals scored, highest level of possession and highest number of chances on goal (at home) in the League. The penalty was thier first effort on target last night and although they come on strong in the 2nd half we dogged out a result.

Sounds like a promotion team to me. Simples. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

i will say mate in this post you dont seem to be being negative for the sake of it but there is one big difference this compared to last year in that we werent expected to be anywhere near the top two and basically when you look at the money spent by other clubs we have no right to be. last year we were favourites and the years before that we adopted a boom or bust strategy which ultimately failed and if it wasn't for malaysian intervention we would have gone to the wall.
This year, if we do fall short (and maybe we will) i have 100% confidence that we will come back much much stronger next year.
Malky has a long term strategy which is surely clear to everyone who wants to see it and i have full confidence this club will be established in the premier league in the not too distant future (as long as we can hold on to malky) :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

That's summed it up lovely :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

I also disgareeing about the squad as well, I think this squad is a lot more prepared for a promotion push compared to last seasons or any previous seasons.
