Why this critism?

Wed Feb 01, 2012 11:19 am

Reading many comments on this site and the CCMB about the club's tranfer dealings, it make me wonder how long some of these so called fans have actually been following City. Any fans of other clubs who read our comments must wonder what the hell we want. Third in the league and a major cup final to look forward to, yet we moan about the fact that we failed to make any major signings during this transfer window.
Many on here wanted the club to up their bid for Craig Noone and pay what was needed to get his signature. Lets be honest though, who had heard of him before he'd been mentioned as a transfer target? Look at the facts relating to this player. Twenty four years of age and only sixteen games played at Championship level. Ten league games played at League 1 level for Brighton, in their promotion season last year, and not many more for Plymouth! Not exactly the statistics to justify the money Brighton wanted for him. As Malky MacKay has stated on numerous occasions, January is a sellers market with stupid fees being quoted for some very average players.
So lets calm down, enjoy the season, and trust Malky to finish off the job he started in August. Lets be honest he's done a pretty good job so far! :ayatollah:

In some people's minds we are third from bottom, and lookind certs for relegation. :(

older fans will remember all the relegation battles we've been in , back then no transfer window as such just a cut off date . Even then signing 2 or 3 players still always didnt stop us going down ..... so currently bringing in 2 or 3 may not make any difference to promotion . Time will tell .

Wasn't expecting much at the start of the season, just prayin we wouldn't be in a relegation scrap! I'm over the moon with how are season has gone so far, got to pinch myself most days to check I'm not dreaming lol 3rd in the league and in a major domestic cup final, made all the more remarkable by the fact our gaffer had to literally rebuild our squad from scratch! Were having a great season

I'm sure Malky MacKay will have some experienced loan signings lined up. It wouldn't surprise me if Smith or Mackie will arrive from QPR once the window opens.

I agree , what a season we''re having. Can any one honestly name a player that was for sale in January (that we could afford) that could do a better job than the players we have got.
Malky couldn't find one, anyone better than Miller with his work ethics ? anyone better than Gunnar, Whitts, Cowie or Conway , who could get straight into the side ?
OK we need a speedy winger to relieve pressure sometimes, perhaps Harris is the answer for the last 10 minutes of a game, who knows until we try. WHU have spent nearly a million on a 18 year old from Manure . I wonder who will turn out to be the most successful , any odds on Harris with MM looking after him. If Ravel Morrison was a true prospect think SAF would sell ?
So please fellas , KTF We have a team and manager who will be in the top 6, but probably top 2 by May , I really believe that.

Well said Martyn, I have supported the city since 1977 we were a struggling Div 2 side at the time and apart from 78-79 & 79-80 we were allways in a relegation scrap.

So what if we didn't bring anyone in there was a distinct lack of activity in the championship from the sides around us. West Ham were always going to spend and Southampton have taken a punt on Billy Sharp. It will be interesting to see what MM does with the loan window now & whether he has identified potential targets that we maybe able to take on loan with the view to making permenant.

People need to calm down we are in a very good position, 3rd in the league with 4 defeats out of 28 & finalists in the Carling cup. You don't need to sign someone just for the sake of it we have a squad that give 100% week in week out but also a squad that is versatile so if we do have a few injuries then players can step up to the plate.

Onwards & upwards with Malkys blue & white army!
