Whilst I appreciate most of us agree we need to improve the squad to increase our chances of promotion does anyone else think it might not be so bad if we don't make perm signings today.
As has often been said January is not the best time for recruitment – there is a definite sense of panic with some of the signings clubs are making. If we don't sign the likes of Noone etc it seems that the deal is not right for us – either the player isn't keen or the finances don't work.
Assuming the cash is there, we keep our powder dry and have the opportunity to pick up some decent signings in the loan window.
Perhaps too much of a positive spin but it's my opinion.

No need to panic.. We got a good academy that produces a player every year or so. I wouldn't mind another experienced head in the middle, but we got the loan period opening next week. Sometimes a "superstar" can upset what you have. I hope this is the case with Southampton because Billy Sharp is a bit scary.
