THE LATEST ON TRANSFERS

Mon Jan 30, 2012 6:42 pm

I have just had a call to say the Noone deal is very much alive, despite Poyet's claims that no improved offer has been made I am assured that City thought the deal was going to be completed on Saturday, there is a lot of jostling and poker playing from both sides aiming to get the best deal for their respective clubs plus the agent for the player trying to get the best deal for his player.

As one of the irons in the fire I can tell you that Johnny Russell of Dundee Utd is one of those and City could make the move to get him if the Noone deal goes pear shaped. Dundee Utd are apparently seeking £1.5million for Russell.

As for the striker I am told that a deal with a Premier League club hinges on whether or not that particular Premier League side are able to bring in a striker themselves before releasing one to us.

Rob Earnshaw is travelling with the squad to Southampton but if City are successful in bringing in another striker then Earnie will be allowed to leave whether on loan or a permanent transfer but will only happen if we secure the services of another striker.

Just want to add as well that Scannell and Vaz Te are not targets of Malky, I am told.

As useless as Earnie's been this season I don't want him to go :(

I'm starting to wonder if Noone is worth the hassle. He's a good player but it's not been a clear cut deal and if it were up to me, I'd pull the plug and look elsewhere

I hope we have a few other possible striker targets lined up and not just waiting on 1 with the hope his club sign another striker!! It looks like the deal for cisse going to QPR is very close. personally I would like to go for dj Campbell think he is a very good player and has always done well in the championship and scored goals for Blackpool in the premiership!

You say that, but we all know Malky - and Cardiff City as a club - can improve a player. Fingers crossed this one goes through and we have a new star. :D

Would love to see Frazier Campbell here - I've said that for months now. My guess is he''ll be in O'Neill's plans from now on, though.

Yeah, that's why Malky likes him. But he's lost a step.

From the Dundee United forum. Seems Celtic were in for Russell and they mention Cardiff as well.

Excellent info again Carl. You're keeping me on the edge of my seat this transfer window. Looks like this one is going to go down to the wire.
Lets hope Malky gets everyone he wants, the window closes and then i can leave my computer and get my life back.
