12/13 Season Ticket renewal question

Mon Jan 30, 2012 6:24 pm

I am an ambassador and have been for a few years i.e. included in the 5 year price freeze. It says on the club website that student prices are being withdrawn now and replaced with young adult prices (16-21 years old). This move suggests that my season ticket renewal price is going to increase by £100 despite my seat being frozen for 5 years. I am still a student and will be for another 18 months or so but am now 22. Could someone in contact with someone in the club clarify what price category I will fall into please. Surely the club should have to honour the current student price as it could be argued that they are in breach of contract?

Certainly doesnt seem fair as students can be of any age

How much was the student ticket?

The way I see it is the club made an offer of freezing the price for 5 years which I then accepted by buying the season ticket on the assumption that I would be a student for another season. They have then changed the terms of the contract which means that they are unwilling to see out their side of the contract. Is there anybody I could speak to about this as people in the ticket office generally don't have any decision making authority.

I'm in the same boat with my son's season ticket!

I had to pay £229 when he turned 16 for last years ticket, up from £169 the previous season, even though he was and still is, only a school pupil with no means of income!

He's still going to be in school next season, as he's going to be in his second year in sixth form, but as students do not now appear to be taken into account, I'm going to have to pay £299, on top of my £399!

You should be OK as he'll qualify for the young adults season ticket due to him being under 21 which I believe is the same price as the student ticket.

Student prices seem to be the same as last year if you are in the price freeze and aged 16-21, it's only if you are a student over 22 that things change. That's how I am reading it.

Thats what I just said. In my case its hardly a price freeze. Imagine the uproar if everyones season tickets were increased by £100.

I'm in Zone 3 and the 16-21 yrs ticket prices are £299, which is £70 more than I paid for this season!

It is a concession price which should mean you pay the concession rate from the season the prices were frozen.

I can't imagine there are huge numbers that are in your situation so probably worth going down and talking to the club to see what they can do. However, there will be lots of people who were students when the price freeze started but not at the end so they would have to pay more. 22 is a bit old to be a student, are you training to be a doctor, dentist or architect? Only joking, hope they can sort something out for you.

Sorry mate, but I'm lost here! :old: :)

My son's ticket was frozen when he was 15, which cost me £169!

Last season, I paid £229 for him, as he had turned 16 and fell into the student category!

This season, there isn't going to be a student category, so it looks like I'm going to have to fork out £299 for a school pupil, who is going to be in his second year of sixth form! :?

The club have introduced this young adults price band which covers anyone aged 16-21. This is a concessionary price. Therefore, by my understanding you should be entitled to the previous student price from when your season ticket price was frozen. I will not fall under this category as I am older than 21.
