Gethin Jenkins and Alan Whitley chose Malky, no one else.He was chosen by Jenkins as he wanted someone not so well known and not being some ones runaround like he was for Dave Jones.
I admit I could not stand Jenkins as I believe he was not the man for us,proved later he was not,but fair play, he chose by accident Malky and I have to say thank you Gethin Jenkins.![]()

I wonder how we would of done under Alan Shearer ?

gary lineker turned his head at the last minute with a box of salt and vinegar crisps also garys missus said she dident want a geordie tosser in charge of her beloved bluebirds
in all seriousness though he did not believe that with the level of debt the club had at the time that they would give him the backing he wanted in the transfer market.
The malaysians wanted him because of his name and how it would give the club a bigger profile in malaysia. 7 months on malky has achieved that by getting us to the final

To be fair to Shearer that's not that unreasonable. Nobody would expect a team to be able to come as far as Cardiff have based on mostly free transfers.

annis out of all the applicants malky was the only one who turned up with a dossier with a plan to take the club forwards and achieve the premier league in three years. It was a case of what he could do for the club as oppossed to the likes of de matteo who had the attitude of what could the club do for me.
he was far and away the most proffesional in his interview and as it turned out a no brainer.

How could you expect playoffs with 11 players running around a training ground?

I believe DJ would have made the play/offs so expected any new manager to do the same.
The fact we had a clear out I believed helped us, he could bring in his players.

But we had no money either at the time! without Malky I beleive we were going to be no better than a mid table team who were in a rebuilding year, hence the sticky we had, No Big Expectations this year..... Fortunately for us, we Have an excellent new manager!

It's still a way to go but I honestly couldn't see us finishing above mid table at the beginning of the season let alone getting to a cup final.Based on the last 6 away and home matches we are still the team to beat in this league !
Malky as been a breath of fresh air ...long may it continue !
