Sky Sports sources understand Cardiff City have made an improved bid for Craig Noone and are close to agreeing a deal for the Brighton & Hove Albion winger.
Brighton rejected an offer, reported to be in the region of £450,000, for Noone earlier this month and manager Gus Poyet has been bracing himself for a fresh bid.
Poyet revealed at the time of turning down Cardiff's opening gambit that the Carling Cup finalists would have to up their offer for Noone.
It is understood that the Bluebirds have now increased their offer and hope to finalise a move for the 24-year-old before Tuesday's transfer deadline.
Noone joined the Seagulls from Plymouth Argyle 12 months ago and he has impressed at the AMEX Stadium this season since the club's promotion to the Championship.
Cardiff boss Malky Mackay is keen to improve his wide options and had also shown an interest in Blackpool's in-form winger Matt Phillips.

But at least some of the doubters can now crawl back under the rock they came from.
The only thing Sky have not said is that the fee has been agreed and the deal is hinging on the player and his agent, this is why we were so close yesterday but just failed to complete the deal

So the question is are we going to back down and accept what they want for the deal to go through! Probably promotion bonuses ??

As you will have seen from my posts I have deliberately not named Craig Noone as the player we were close to signing yesterday.
But I did on Tuesday announce we had put in an improved offer.

At the risk of sounding antagonistic, i don't read many of your posts but it was pretty obvious that we we are strongly linked with Noone. It's been everywhere for the last 2 weeks.

Ok we have been strongly linked, but where did people read first that we have been that close with Noone, or where did they read that we had made an improved bid, who broke the Matt Phillips bid first?
