Robert Earnshaw.
The club want to move him on, but other clubs wont pay his wages.
Has Earnie really been given a fair chance to prove himself ?
Sun Jan 29, 2012 1:02 pm
I don't think he has, I think we should keep. He seems to pop and and just score out of no where.

Thing is, Malky wants another striker meaning earnie would be 5th choice?
He's not even going to make the bench, nevermind pop out of nowhere to score

He needs a few games for sure.Great from the bench as an impact player.

Yea I realise that and its disappointing. I knew as soon as we signed him it was for shirt sales.

Malky would have to change the system 4-5-1 to accomodate Earnie, and like the saying goes if it's not broke.
Sun Jan 29, 2012 1:07 pm
i thought he had a great game at wba
Sun Jan 29, 2012 1:14 pm
When Malky took over he needed bodies in fast. Earnie a seasoned pro was available. Earnies best days are long gone and i don't think he was ever going to be more than a stop gap(could be wrong)I thought at the time we shouldn't pay any more than Forest were offering. don't know the details of his contract. I'm sure someone can put me right.
How long is his contract?
Sun Jan 29, 2012 1:16 pm
Earnie has suffered from the 5 sub rule. He would be in every matchday squad if there were 7 subs. Also Malky's preference for 4 5 1 means that Earnie can't play as he is not a player that can hold the ball up or link play.

I think the only way this can be answered is with the results.
Results say to me MM has got it stop on and he hasn't been needed.
Sun Jan 29, 2012 1:17 pm
clearly malky dont rate earnie so if that s the case he should move him on to free up wages,if clubs wont pay the wages he wants then i can just see him running down his contract
Sun Jan 29, 2012 1:38 pm
If Malky doesn t manage to snap up a striker id like to see earnie given a chance to come off the bench,he did well at WBA.
Although there has been reports of him not giving his all in training and does he deserve a place above the likes of joey mason who clearly works his arse off.
Again the 5 sub rule is shown to be f*cking ridiculous

Its a shame. Robert is a top man but the fact is that his style of play just doesn't fit in with the way that MM likes to play. At this stage of his career Earnie needs game time and it will probably be best for all parties if he goes out on loan somewhere.

I think it is clear that Kenny Miller is, quite rightly, Malky Mackay's first choice striker. When Earnie played alongside Miller early in the season it just didn't work. So in that respect he has had his chance.
Personally I thought Earnie was brought to the club as an impact substitution. From that perspective he hasn't really had an opportunity.

Earnies score rate when he has been on the pitch matches Millers. One against the Wurzels, another against Burnley then his final one against Doncaster before he was ignored. He then scored against WBA in the reserve team cup game against WBA. As far as I am concerned he has done what he was brought here for.

The guy is on at least 10k a week. Thats 500k a year.
How much are shirts ? 50 quid. Thats 10,000 extra shirts.
Cant see it myself.

I think Earnie was one of Cardiff's best players before he left, influential, a prolific goalscorer and worshiped by the fans. I am right in thinking he was sold to put money in the bank.
He was not the same player after leaving Cardiff. I wouldn't pay big money to keep him, personally I would off load him and go and get someone else. I know it's sounds heartless but it's all about what can each player do for the gaffer and club.
To answer your question Annis which is a tough one, Malky see's him training everyday, so I guess he know what's best for Cardiff City.

why we still pay such high wages? this is why we cant m0ve them 0n.....
Sun Jan 29, 2012 4:17 pm
Totally underrated by Malky. He's shown that he still has it in him when he scored at WBA, assissted one, and had a perfectly good goal (amazing finish) dissalowed for not being offside
Sun Jan 29, 2012 4:21 pm
If MILLER is injured then rob could step in but not up front on his own.I think rob lives off the second ball and scraps in the box a different player to miller.
I think rob could and can do a job for us and I no he would score lots of goals for us thats what he does.
His first touch has let him down but a goal or 2 and he wouldn't look back.
Thought like heaton he could of had a chance in the cup games to show what he could do but we haven't got a parkin or bothroyd to set him up.
Its a pity he hasn't had a chance hope he stays here to get it.

He was brought in before Malky joined.
Can't necessarily fault that, we lost Chops and bothroyd, needed a body up front.
When he played earlier this season, Miller took up some cracking positions only for Earnie to try the spectacular.
He's lost pace, can't play the lone striker role and doesn't necessarily fit into the team player Malky wants.
Right now, he'd be taking up game time from Gestede and Mason, both of which have more upside long term for the club.

earnie isnt wanted, regardless of having a chance,so he has to go,sorry, but thats the way it is

I think you are correct in alot of what you say. At WBA he started well and scored a goal every 3 games (good at any level)but Bryan Robson was hugely responsible in Earnie's demise. He did very well at Norwich and started well at Forest. Unfortunately he has aged and the pace has gone. He is still a good finisher and would be great for a league 1 club that plays 4 4 2

No. He signed 3 weeks AFTER malky arrived.

I don't see why the Club doesn't loan him out if they're not going to use him, obviously they'd have to pay a percentage of his wages but Earnie would be playing Football and maybe showing Malky what he can really do and the Club saves some money off the wage bill. I feel really sorry for him.

Earnie doesnt offer enough when he's on the pitch.
Simples.
His day has been and gone

Which raises the question, why was he signed and on such a high (as i've read) wage?
