Well the debate was this, the Welsh Liverpool fan reckons if say, Liverpool had to play a season in the Premier League in the Millennium Stadium, they would average 50,000 by the end of the season.
Any opinions ?

I think they'd get a full house every game. There would be people coming from all over South Wales to watch them unfortunately whether to watch Liverpool or the team they're playing.
It's not as clearcut as it would have been maybe five years ago but there are still plenty of Liverpool fans that go to city games because they don't want to travel.

But there are plenty of them in South Wales, who in the 70's and 80's chose them over their home town club Cardiff City.

And to be fair that is the only way these sad fookers will ever get to watch there team play. Same can be said about Manure as well. The truth is the Country is full of Plastic fans and they claim to be there biggest supporters but truth be told they could not be even bothered to get off there lazy articles to go and support there chosen team.
But what gets my goat they chose to support there so called team because they win all the time, that is there prerogative i suppose !! But then they have the audacity to say to us , "Why do you watch that shit for ?". Well for one it aint worth explaining to them as they just would not understand.

Could be anything up to 75k, you'd still find loyal Liverpudlians coming to games aswell.

MOTD, The Big Match, Sportsnight, etc tended to feature highlights of the 1st division and in those days inevitably the best teams in the country would feature more than most and unless their parents ( typically father in those days) went "down the City" the only teams you would see week in week out would be those on the TV and Liverpool started their golden times with Shankly late 60's early 70's

Remember there's the whole novelty factor as it's only one season. There'll be plenty of people making sure they come as they may not get a chance to drive a few hours to liverpool for a match because their sofa's so much warmer.

If they carried on like have been recently however it would be about 50,000. Most plastics only go depending on how well their team is doing

But the tide is slowly changing, look how many local kids now wear City tops they outnumber the usual suspects about 3-1 now, give it another 5 years of City success and It'll be 10-1, happy days.![]()
