You still haven't watched us play. You haven't even watched your hero play just down the road. Call yourself a football fan?
Shame on you.

The guy who wrote this is actually a cardiff fan - check on his twitter... celebrating cup win and a comment about how he struggling in his admiration for the way swansea play and his love for cardiff...
lets be honest though the swansea way isn't too different to the way that wales started to play - except wales had better players!

"How to play like Barcelona or Swansea"
Well that should be changed, Barcelona play much better football than Swansea, they get several chances at goal and win games.
Swansea get little chances on goal, lose and draw games and force the crowd into an eternal slumber which not even a stampede could awaken.
Before you start spouting about Swansea's magnificent football blah blah blah, it was only a few seasons back with mr. Sousa that you were complaining about this style of play because "the ball was more in Swansea's half and with the keeper than it was going forward".

obviously the quality of players at barcelona are head and shoulders better than those at swansea. However, they give it a good go.
I actually believe Rodgers studied football at Barcelona and La Masia before coming into coaching in the UK.
I hate the swans, but appreciate they try to play a good brand of football... but absolutely they are yet to start playing the tikataka football in the right areas of the pitch. they have the ball far too much between the back three.
Fri Jan 27, 2012 4:19 pm
They try to play a good fluid passing game and they do it alright they just forget one of the key factors......attacking.
Pointless playing attractive passing play if your not going to create.

agree completely. I actually don't believe swansea can progress beyond where they are now. if they start to bring in better players then expectation will start to arise and the lack of attacking football will be highlighted.
even with a player of tevez's quality (a tw*t and would fit in perfectly with that lot!) he'd not get on the ball enough in areas to create damage. where as at barcelona he would...
so barcelona obviously play true tikataka football in all it's glory, swansea play a defensive brand of tikataka football... but maybe they have to in order to stand a chance

If Stoke and Swansea play diametrically opposed styles of football, how come they have scored the same amount of goals?

I guess the point is here there is no right and wrong way of playing.
it's worth noting...I haven't look but I'd imagine stoke have conceded more ?
I bet Stoke have created far more chances to score also... something worth thinking about

That's true must be a pretty defensive the way Swansea play then.

Yes we didn't get over our own halfway line against Arsenal, Villa, Stoke, Wolves, Spurs, Bolton etc.. yet still scored plenty in those games

No one (with any sense) is disputing your credibility in the Prem. Swansea will quite obviously stay up they haven't been 'found out' like Blackpool were and it's a bit too late for that to happen either. However the idea that the football is 'braca' quality to absurd, its far more defensive (or effective if you want a more palatable term). Better than Sousa without doubt not to the level of Marinez.

It's a lot better than Martinez' brand of football, for a start his teams can't defend. But I suppose what Sousa taught the team has given them a steel edge when it comes to defending and Brendan has enabled us to attack teams from the back using the wings and now a decent midfielder (Sigurdsson) to play off the striker. We didn't have this at the start of this season.
The Barca comparison is merely that they too play it from the back rather than going long up to the wings or through the middle, it just means all the team are comfortable on the ball and it's a brave style of football as it can go badly wrong if you are not comfortable on the ball.
That's one thing Cardiff needs to do if they go up - be comfortabe on the ball and look after it (i'm not saying play like us) but the more you keep and control the ball the more you will wear the opposition down. You don't get many goal scoring chances at this level and the few you get you have to make count.

I should qualify when I say 'better' I meant more attacking rather than overall 'better' in that sense Rodgers clearly has the best of the three. But for style and flair and attacking intent (IE closer to Barcelona) Martinez wins hands down.

No one could ever touch Barcelona. End of.

If Swansea play like Barcelona, then why are they in the bottom half of the Prem?
Let's be honest, they just pass around in their own half for most of the game and think that it's great football. Sure, they're doing well at the moment but their style of football is so boring to watch. The fact that they compare themselves to Barcelona is hilarious.

I think you will find that it's the press who make the comparisons with Barcelona and not Swansea City Football club. As for bottom half? We are mid table which is a great feat considering the budgets we have to work with compared to the rest of the premiership.
As for playing football in our own half - I really find that amusing as if we actually did that then we would be in the bottom 3!

I wish we'd all stop pretending that Swansea are a crap side, they are far from it - they are in the Prem (playing great football) and we are not!
Hopefully there'll be 2 Welsh clubs in there next season which will really upset the English elite.

5 posts and your defending the jacks on them. lets be honest, your a jack pretending to be a bluebird ain't you.

The only thing Swansea have in common with Barcelona is the average height of their players if 5 foot 2"

Swansea are a crap side though..... You cant honestly say that Danny Graham is a world class striker and that Leon Britton is a better passer than Xavi etc? They are in the prem yes, playing great football? Not so much. They are passing the ball well but even as the jack above will testify to, they are creating very little challenges due to the prem being a massive step up from the championship. They may or may not stay up, i dont know, it depends on how much of an effect McEchran and Sigurdsson have and depends if they start playing more attacking football.
I agree with the last point though

how to play like swansea pass the baall across your back 4 for 90 minutes. bore everyone to death in the process
Sat Jan 28, 2012 3:59 pm
10 changes for us today. Only Williams the regular 1st teamer starting the game. Could you make 10 changes and compete with a premiership team away from home and take the lead? Thought not.
Chelsea much more important on Tuesday - that's why we are resting players.
