I think thereare far worse people than Harry Redknapp when it comes to tax evasion most of whom make big donations to political parties which helps them get away with it.
Never should have got to court if you ask me.

Saved Pompey money. If they had to pay him a taxable bonus they would probably have had to pay him more.

I'm not sure if it's standard practice with managers but a manager getting 10% of very transfer sale seems very odd to me and never heard of this before. I certainly don't think its something that should be allowed.

Doesn't Holloway at Blackpool get a percentage of player sales?
Reason they wanted so much for Adams last season. Then admitted they should have sold him and reinvested the money in new players which could have saved them from relegation.
Not right for the manager to get part of the money as he is not acting in the clubs interest, only his own. (or perceived as ).

My understanding of transfer paperwork is that ALL monies paid in relation to the transfer i.e. Transfer Fee, Agent Fee, Signing on Fee and any bonus must be detailed in the documents submitted to the League and FA. I haven't heard or read of the prosecution detailing the bonus arrangements from the transfer documents and if, as claimed by the prosecution, he was receiving between 5% - 10% on every transfer this iseasily established through the transfer paperwork. Unless of course it was a bung andif it was how many other bungs were paid.
Harry Redknapp may well face further charges from the FA if he is foung guilty on this tax evasion charge and it may well cost him any chance of becoming England manager.
Sad really because I think there are bigger fish when it comes to tax evasion.

I think your right, I remember something along those lines.
I certainly don't like the idea though and like you say he can't be looking free the interest of the club
After the FA Cup didn't Pompey sell around 100m of players

I know it might affect his England chances if guilty but I swear Capello has been done for this recently too! cant remember if it was before or after his appointment!

i had to laugh when he said he could not spell, then satd he wrote a colum for the scun ,sums the rag up. gives money away and is not worried about how much tax he pays but goes to the trouble of setting up a secret account in monaco. him and mandric have been taking money out of pfc while they were £130m in the red, i would like to think that any manager , chairman would give up their fees to try and reduce the debt of the club not take money out by the back door. just like peter reid did by selling his medals while at plymouth.

Bankers and Tax evaders are f'ing up the world. Redknapp's crime may be small in comparison to others but every
Iittle helps.
Greek tax collection was in such a state most of the population were having a go at evasion. Now they are on the streets complaining because the country has no money.

when councils have to make people redundant to save 3 or 4 £m you realise how much these people are taking out of the economy by not wanting to pay tax on their millions, i do work for a guy who pays him and his wife in a dividend instead of a wage and can earn nealy £100k before paying any tax. it seems tax is only for the poor

Having paid PAYE all my life, I hope that they throw the book at him - greedy sod!

Aren't the dividends still income though and therefore taxed?
