A POEM FOR OUR FINAL...................

Well who would of thought,
That it would be.
A fourth trip for Cardiff,
To The famous Wemb-er-ley

When the youngsters took on Oxford,
And they were well & truly beaten!
That our hero played back on that night!
The one & only Heaton.

So next up were Huddersfield,
And into extra time!
And the lads pulled it off,
And Cowies finish was sublime.

Another home tie in the bag,
Brought a strongish Leicester team
But Malkys men saw them off
But the final was still a dream.

But as Burnley and Blackburn were then brushed aside!
The final got oh so nearer,
And that arch we have seen so many times,
Was on the horizon getting clearer.

So Palace it was that we had in the semi.
And a tense first leg away,
With the London outfit edging the game.
Dougie thought he was on his way.

To Wembley for the final,
Scared stiff he said, yeah right!!
But He should of kept his gob shut
And that kick started the Bluebirds fight.

An own goal by our visitors,
Levelled the tie on the night.
Could this be our moment?
With the final then in sight.

We Bombarded the Palace goal,
Hitting the crossbar and the post.
If one team wanted it more.
It was Cardiff that were going close.

So penalties it was.
Up steps our number 9,
Miller blasts it high and over!!
Time for someone else to shine.

So Heaton had done his homework.
And smartly saved the next two.
Conway, Rudy and Whitts then did,
What Miller couldn't do.

Then Palace miss their 3rd spotkick.
And it's the City that go through.
To play the mighty Liverpool!
A sea of red and royal blue.

Dare we dream of winning it!
Bloody right we will.
We could be travelling Europe next season,
But for now we got Wembley to fill.
