" BACK TO REALITY "

Wed Jan 25, 2012 9:04 pm

Last night was fantastic and a night I will remember forever, we have achieved a place in the League Cup Final and in doing so became the first Welsh team to reach the final.

Wembley will be a great day out and a party to enjoy but there is work to be done, we have a league campaign to get in with and the biggest game of our season is on Tuesday vs Southampton, then on a week Saturday we have the biggest game of the season against Blackpool at home, that game is followed by the biggest game of the season when we travel to Leicester before we play . . . . . . . You catch my drift?

Let's book our tickets for Wembley but we must focus all our attention on each and every league game between now and the end of the season.

We are striving for the Premier League and that must always remain the target. When we achieve the target we can start building 'THE DREAM'.

The dream is not to reach the Premier League but to be part of it and sustain a place in there for years to come, Man City or Liverpool in a one off match at Wembley will be an occasion but playing in the top flight each season will make this club massive.

There is no doubt the players and management have enjoyed themselves last night like we did but come tomorrow they will all be concentrating on the league matches and Malky will focus them all on these games and not Wembley.

Once the Ipswich game has been played then and only then should our players and management talk about Wembley, by then we can be top of the league with just 8 weeks of the season to go.

Totally agree, maybe the success of tuesday night will up the attendances for a while, being able to average 24,000 per game for the rest of the season should be a target!

That would be fantastic, the more we fill the stadium the bigger lift we can give the players :ayatollah:

I've got to be honest, I expected mid table. But in a major cup final and fighting for automatic promotion! Fair play! :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

I think Malky will keep the players feet firmly on the ground Car,l looking at him tonight on sky he conducts himself well and does not seem to get carried away calmness personified(big word)!!!!

Spot on Carl, the focus should be straight back on the league now with all talk about the cup banned! Southampton is massive next week now! Cant afford to take our eyes off the prize!

Agree with this however if I had the choice of promotion or winning the cup, I would take the cup any day. Football is all about winning things. You can never take a trophy win from a clubs history. Teams will get promoted / relegated year on year and other chances will come. You dont get many bites of the cherry re cup finals.

However, with the position we are in and the spirit and team working ethic introduced by Malky, I beleive we have got an excellent chance at promotion this year.

The cup is a freebie. There is no presure on our team , huge presure on liverpool to deliver some major sliverware.

Not quite yet, we could lose the rest of our games including the final, then I bet people would want him out. If he does a brill job throughout the next 5 years (with Cardiff and including being in the Prem) then I think I'd see him as a legend. But IMO, he's just a "great Cardiff manager"...for now. ;) :ayatollah:

Total opposite for me.We won the cup in 1927-doesn't mean alot to me in 2011.Birmingham won the cup last season and some of their fans reckon they took their eye off the ball where the league is concerned. If our league form suffers because of the cup final I for one will be gutted.
