Max benefits of 26k

Mon Jan 23, 2012 6:53 pm

What do people think of this?

Surely if people are earning more than 26k in benefits due to having a number of kids then they should be made to cut their cloth accordingly as everyone else has to.

Ha Polo you need a pile of kids for that. It is shocking though. You have to earn a wage of 35k a year to be even with the 26k benefits. This is one thing I agree with the Tories on.

Giving up work next month if this is available.
Thats worth £35,000 before tax. £700 a week for doing nothing.
Plus all the extras like free prescriptions, cheap entry to places.
Does this also include free council tax?

That's not what all on benefits earn it's just what some can earn. Some with 4 or 5 kids living in 4 bedroomed houses with lots of added extras.

I'm saying earn it's not earn at all?

We all get free prescriptions in Wales, plus free entry to museums etc, tax payer or non tax payer...

We get £750 per month, wife works full time for NHS Around £18k. I work 1 day a week and look after the 2 kids.

Child care would be £36.50 for the youngest each day, the other is 5 so in school full time.

Would cost £790 a month to put him in child care full time. Honestly no point me working.
Unfortunately we haveno one who can look after youngest in family otherwise I would go back full time.

You would probably be better off were you both unemployed though.
