Who remembers..............

Fri Jan 20, 2012 8:54 pm

Watching the City in that poxy away end at the Vetch and every time the ball went into the Cardiff end it would be tossed about for a while before being stabbed and punctured and thrown back onto the pitch. They used to go through some balls fair play. I know it wasn't very mature but it was part of the game them days. It wasn't mature for the police to stand right in front of you either so you couldn't see the game, tossers............good memories though running them out of their own seats in that shite stand to the right on a couple of occasions lol. Ninian Park was no super stadium but it was better than that shithole :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

My dad and me still talk about a league game there in the late 80s. Either Boxing Day or New Year. About 88? Anyway, drew 2-2, with the City scoring very late, at the opposite end. Old Bill kept us behind for ages after the game, just as well we got that late goal. We were like sardines in there. Same season, I think, we beat Wrexham there in the Welsh Cup Final. Alan Curtis scored for us, top corner, right in front of us.

For both games, we just strolled around Swansea like we owned the place. And, starngely enough, nobody chased us into the sea. Probably because most of us were over 12 years old.

Happy days. But the Vetch was a real dump, though

My first City away game was at the Vetch, Boxing Day victory Leigh Barnard early goal, loved going to the Vetch if I'm honest.

Best memory was when we drew 0-0 in a midweek cup match days after the FA cup match down there think :ayatollah:

As for the game, they battered us, it was proper smash'n'grab which made it all the more sweeter :ayatollah:
