Max fixing, Bet matching, RIPE in premier and football leagu

Mon Jan 16, 2012 10:06 pm

more and more bizzare decisions are coming out, and you have to wonder is it the referee's wanting to take a nice extra 10,000 wager because times are hard or is it the betting circles of the underworld, offering hefty fee's to referee's to book players throw games by dissalowed goals, and giving penalty's....

or is it even the players given away penalty's for max fixing fee's...

obviously as we know people have been caught over red card bet fixing, but the reality is, there is not one person involved but a team or group working together, which leaves further more corrupt untouchable scandal to be produced for the forseeable years and beyond...

it's a shame, but you'd be a fool to deny this

As part of my job I often cover illegal betting in sport and I can tell that it is a lot more common than a lot of people think. We are lucky in Britain that sportsmen earn enough that they are unlikely to be swayed by a bribe unless it is huge and a lot of underground criminals don't see the benefit in paying such high amounts here when players abroad will settle for a lot less.

Italy and other leagues in Europe still suffer from match-fixing in a big way. The 2006 match-fixing scandal and the recent one last summer has only scratched the surface. I am confident the men at the top are aware of it and are probably receiving something to keep quiet. To them, hear no evil and see no evil.

We are fortunate in Britain though that our leagues are less likely to be subjected to match-fixing due to the high wages players are on.

On the referee decision-making front I think camera angles and slow motion replays make it almost impossible for the refs. Regarding the recent Kompany vs Johnson tackles, as far as I am concerned both are red cards. There's no grey area. You go in with two feet off the floor then you risk a red card. No idea why the ref that sent Kompany off is getting stick. I have found it amusing how the same people who complained about Kompany being sent off are the same crowd saying it was a disgrace that Johnson didn't receive a card!

A betting company recently appeared on tv at half time during a cup semi final and offered 8/1 for the top striker of the team that were behind to score next. A player who had hero status at quite a few big clubs. Very generous odds, I would've thought there would've been a stack of takers and was sorely tempted myself. Turns out that the said player had a perfectly good goal disallowed.

This however I'M SURE was just a coincidence and the way the cookie crumbles.
