The greates team you ever saw?

Mon Jan 16, 2012 5:55 pm

They came to Wembley and stepped out onto that green carpet they just can't seem to create these days and they annihilated
an England team then regarded as the world's finest. The ball control was immaculate and the passing was as smooth as clockwork. The end product was goals, cracking goals flashed neatly into the net as Wright, Ramsey and Co wondered when the Martians had landed! Final score 6-3.

The return match according to the English press was going to be a revenge match. The England team were coolly dismissed , This time by 7-1. They were the Hungarian team of the fifties.

I cant imagine Any team from the 80's and beyond, standing a chance against someone like barcalona or spain now , I think they would get demoralised in every department :ayatollah:

myself :ayatollah:

Champions league Highbury Arsenal 1-4 barcalona mid 90's

Italy were great also on both occasions 2003 qualifiers, second half san siro was demoralising though

I have my favourites since the 60's but I'd have to go with Barca tearing Man Utd apart at the last Champions league final.

It would not be an exaggeration to say Barca could and should of put 8 past Man Utd that day.

Others are Brazil 1970, Holland 1974, Celtic late 60's, Forest late 70's and Cardiff City who destroyed Liverpool 3-1 in the cup Final at the end of feb. ;)

When the Germans beat us in Nuremburg (after Rushie had seen them off down here), they seemed to be able to pass the ball 40 yards and the receiving player didn't seem to need to trap the ball, like they were putting some sort of magic spin on the ball. Gavin Maguire didn't help our cause either.

They were awesome, the sight inside the ground with them all waving their Black, Red and Yellow flags was awesome too. Welsh fans were awesome that night as well. Apart from taking more than a few slaps and Wales being ripped apart it was great.
