" DONCASTER R v CARDIFF CITY Fact & OFFICIAL MATCH THREAD "

MATCH FACTS
Head-to-head

• Cardiff have won 16 of 31 matches against Doncaster, who have prevailed on five occasions. They have never met outside the league.

• The 2-0 triumph in this corresponding fixture in August 2009 was only the second and most recent of Doncaster's home victories over the Bluebirds.

• Cardiff have scored a total of nine goals in winning their last three matches against Rovers. Another maximum here will complete a fourth double over them and second in succession.

Doncaster Rovers

• Next-to-bottom Doncaster return to league business after being knocked out of the FA Cup by Notts County, and are looking for a fourth win in seven Championship outings, and a fourth in succession at home, after the visits of Southampton, Leicester and Barnsley.

• Rovers are four points from safety, having lost 15 times; only Nottingham Forest have also been beaten that often in this division.

• The South Yorkshire club have opened the scoring in eight Championship games; no club has taken the initial lead less often.

Cardiff City

• Cardiff lie third in the table, two points off the pace, and are looking for a third successive league win, having lost back-to-back ties in the FA Cup and Carling Cup semi-final first leg.

• Malky Mackay's Bluebirds have lost only one of their last 13 Championship matches, and have not been beaten in seven on the road. They are the away draw specialists in the division, with stalemates in seven of the 13.

• They have opening the scoring in an unrivalled 18 Championship matches, but have also squandered an unmatched 16 points from winning positions. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Cheers Sam,

I remember seeing City beat them 7-1 at Ninian Park, they went out the league after that. Then saw them play at Kettering, when they were coming back up, Citys game was pp at Peterborough so went to Kettering.
My first visit to Doncaster was in 82/83 season, our promotion season. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Pascal Chimbonda is injured for this game. And El-Hadji Diouf has trained all week, allthough there were concerns over a hamstring strain. Hopefully both of these 2 wont feature, making it a pretty easy day for us :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

I mentioned in an earlier post that I covered the Burnley v Doncaster game, as a photographer, for some of the National Newspapers - (Something I do Part Time)

That day Doncaster were awful - and both Billy Sharp and Diouf were playing.

Doncaster did not have a midfield and were effectively playing straight from Defence to Attack and Burnleys Defence were able to minimise any problem with ease.

Burnleys tactic that day was to run at the Defence and predominantly down the wings. This is a tactic I think we should use.

I dont like saying this about sides, as no result is guaranteed, but Doncaster should be there for the taking today. If we have not scored 3 or 4 I personally will be disappointed.

Were not looking good in midfield today.

I'm not sure what has happened to our team since we decided to rest everyone for the FA Cup match. Doncaster are one of the weakest teams in this League and we are huffing and puffing against them.

1 effort on target in a game we really need to win is very disappointing. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

I think we have reached our peak! I fear it will be a similar story away from home for rest of season without additions

I think we have one eye on the Carling Cup Annis and we need to forget about that game until the end of the Portsmouth game next week, 6 points are on offer before the 2nd leg and we need all of them.

Not liking the sound of this. Looks like we're going to be getting a few more 0-0's before the season ends. If we dont bring anyone in that is

Any point away from home is a good point and when you consider we had only 1 attempt on goal in the last 43 minutes of the 2nd half it's probably a good point.

But with this squad the playoffs is the very best we can expect. Fresh faces are now urgently needed if you ask me following a very low quality performance.
