" CARDIFF CITY FORUM FRED KEENOR FUND "

On Tuesday evening members of this forum raised money from a collection on the trip back from Crystal Palace. We raised £57 and for each and every trip I organise until the end of this season we will collect on the coach and hand all the money over the Fred Keenor fund at the end of the season.

There will be events where we will raise money from and these will include an evening with Malky Mackay.

Anyone who wishes to donate anything they can afford to help raise as much as possible to help the fundraising team achieve the target figure to have the statue erected can PayPal money to my brother (Jamccfc) jamie.curtis1@ntlworld.com

We will keep you updated after every trip how much cash we raised on the forum trip and Jamie will keep us updated on the PayPal donations.

There will be an update very soon by Gwyn and myself regarding 'Young Guns' to keep all the members and donators updated on what has been raised thus far.

So let's do our bit, however much you can afford, as every little helps and let's help get the statue erected.

Brilliant Carl, If every coach did a collection on every away trip, the money would soon be raised.

Also if the Fred Keenor statue had a sponsor, then I am sure every penny would be raised and I reckon there are plenty of companies out there who would love to be the sponsor. If everyone put their minds to this fund, I reckon come May 2012, every penny would be raised.

Well I thought they would of raised the £700 by now, as that was weeks ago, I was hoping we were now going in to the final £20,000 needed, which I believe we should be able to raise by May 2012.Different groups run coaches away every away game, thats a start in its self and if everyone pulls together,we should raise it.

Fair play, that's an amazing idea and great gesture - great thanks to all concerned.

I did try on here last time to get that £700 fund (think it was 50 members donating £15 each) idea up and running, but I'm no Paypal expert and without a suitable paypal email address linked to here, it soon died a death.

This is an ongoing campaign, and so we may well have reached that £700 figure already - I should be getting an update on the exact current total in the next few days when they check the account as money occasionally turns up from all over the UK (and the ex pats across the world). Also have our next committee meeting at end of Jan with the rest of the Keenor Fund committe along with Vince, Mark and Irene of the CCSC, so will keep everyone posted then.

I have thrown my £10's worth in and I will add to that every month. Great cause and with the backing of this forum I'm sure we will have Fred standing in his spot very, very soon.

I was hoping all the other coaches from the other mb's would start now collecting on every away trip, even if it was 50p each.

We could maybe get Vince involved,im sure everyone on the supporters club coaches would be more than happy to donate,like you said even a £1 from each person would make a big overall difference

annis , i have a cardiff city shirt here, from the play off final team v blackpool , signed by the managment and players... i would gladly give this to you so that you can raffle or auction or whatever you think is best .. maybe it will raise a couple more quid.. im working the next two weekends so my next city game will be the palace game.. if you want i can catch up with you in the ninian prior to the game!

When we go to Wembley (again) get everyone who goes by coach to pay extra £1 to the fund. That will surely add an extra £4/5,000 .There will surely be 100 coaches going there .

That is a great idea Rob, and although it hasn't been advertised, Vince also suggested it in our meeting in December - you've just confirmed here that it is a workable / realistic idea.

I don't run coaches myself, but I'm sure those that I know could look into it. I'll remind Vince in the next meeting if we've been successful v Palace.

Why not go all out for the money needed and charge £1 on every ticket sold for Wembley. If your a true BLUEBIRD you cant say no to £1 for this great player from our past.This should be enough to cover most of the cost of the statue.

Carl, Remember I said all the coaches to Palace should of done a raffle or collection, we would of had a lot then. There are quite a few independent supporters coaches going away and they could all start collecting.
