Cardiff Airport Announce new routes

Thu Jan 12, 2012 12:17 pm

Low budget Airline Vueling have added Alicante and Palma, Mallorca to the routes from CWL.

That means Palme, Mallorca, Barcelona and Alicante 3 days weekly from the airport.

Certainly a step in the right direction :)

Bristol have a lot more competition because they have so many airlines.
Cardiff reportedly have one of the highest land fees in Britain so I cant see them matching Bristols prices.

Vueling are a low budget airline though so its something compared to the prices of Tomson and Thomas Cook if you want cheaper flights.

Vueling use Barcelona as a hub for there other flights around europe, thats a positive thing though as it means people can travel from Cardiff to most places around europe Via Barcelona.

You don't know much about the Spanish transport network do you ? Many people fly to Barcalona as that airport serves many of the locations in the Costas.

That is another avenue to Europe but like KLM I would very much doubt that many would do that when you can get a direct flight from Bristol. However Barcalona is the airport to service the Costas FACT

you would be surprised the KLM flights are very busy especially when you consider in the summer they have 3 flights a day and the vast majority or customers have connecting flights.

Problem with Bristol is that they have a shorter runway so cant handle the bigger planes that would take you further than Europe so in that respect Bristol is no advantage.

Great news Luke.

But I have booked all mine already from Bristol for this years, but glad to know for next year. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Orlando direct from Cardiff still as well. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Vueling is a big airline which is 46% owned by Iberia and have 48 Airbus aircraft at moment. Prices will be from £41-41 each way (Weird I know but its the equivalent of the Euro fare ) and will be in most cases cheaper than either Ryanair or Easyjet from Bristol.

Barcelona is their main hub and there are over 20 connecting flights of theirs from there.

Alicante is the airport for Costa Blanca !

Annis will be in Majorca all the time now in the summer lol

I'm interested to see how the Orlando flights sell, something we at least have over Bristol :ayatollah:

2b, who carries the Orlando flights?

I don't like the flight to Glasgow from Cardiff at the moment. As somoene who is terrified of flying, getting on a flight without "proper engine's" on Flyby terrifies me, lol

Monach Airlines are doing the Orlando flights.

Funny thing is I dont like flying either and the idea of a propeller plane doesnt fill me with confidence even though I know they are very safe. If you dont like the Flybe planes certainly dont fly with Manx.com from Cardiff to Anglesey, the plane is tiny

Sounds good.

If all goes according to plan and we reach the league cup final, it could be a good place to fly from when we're in Europe next year!

Maybe that's why they've decided to fly from Cardiff.

Worst case scenario, we can still go on our luxury holidays to Beindorm!

Haven't even bothered looking for flights from Cardiff in the last five years as they never have flights to destinations of my choice. I will stick to Bristol or Heathrow.

Cardiff Airport will always remain a small regional airport as its previous incompetent management missed the boat with regards to low cost flying and the catchment area of south Wales will never be able to support flights to business centres across Europe as it's one of the poorest areas of the UK.

All Cardiff airport will ever be is a charter holiday airport in general.
