I think that's quite funny and is something I would probably have said! People need to lighten up. :ayatollah:

So you've never made a joke out of anything that's affected someone in a negative manner? Please avoid the hypocrisy.

Since when did "sticks and stones............" stop being relevant, FYI everytime one of the away teams come to the CS and call me a sheep shagger i go home and contemplate ending it all ;)

This leftist "every minority needs protecting" crap will only result in a hideous backlash once the mainstream has decided enough is enough

Re: NASTY CAMERON JIBE AT TOURETTES

I'm not his biggest fan but people need to get a grip. What he said wasn't a dig at people with tourettes it was a dig at Ed Balls and was quite funny. This ridiculous jump on anyone who says something slightly controversial is making this country a huge laughing stock.

Re: NASTY CAMERON JIBE AT TOURETTES

In most incidents like this I would say it was just a bit of banter.

However, if you are Prime Minister and you are appearing on National and International TV you do have to choose your words more carefully.

Otherwise some people will get the perception that it is OK to abuse some disabilities (i.e. in this case Tourtettes) and use the excuse 'well the PM does it'

At the end of the day Cameron is an idiot who is well out of his depth and the sooner he is gone the better.

But the difference being here is Cameron is the PM and he said it in an official interview as PM. He should know better really.

First of all citygardens, if you've never made a joke or laughed at a joke that has been at the misfortune of somebody else then your life is severely limited. Comedy's very own existence came about because it was a way people coped with the bad and the negative. The term "would rather laugh than cry" springs to mind.

I've had people take the piss out of me for negative things a fair amount and I just get on with it. It's funny because in these situations it's rarely those directly affected by the "jibes" that say they are offended. It's always the do gooders who try to make themselves look better by speaking up and acting all self righteous.

If Cameron had said "Ed Balls is such a retard, it's like having someone with Tourette's sitting opposite me" then fair enough. That's offensive. However, in this instance he is using a fact and making a joke out of it. Tourette's randomly shout out at inappropriate times... so does Ed Balls (in Cameron's view). Honestly, how is that so overly offensive to people with Tourette's? Maybe we should actually ask someone with Tourette's rather than getting on those high horses?

Berwyn, I appreciate he needs to watch his choice of words due to the role he is in but I really don't think what he said was at all offensive. Just my opinion though!

... and before anyone says, no I am not a Cameron fan. I can't stand the smarmy c**t...

Oh wait... I apologise for saying something offensive about David Cameron... or is that not offensive because it was David Cameron? I need your help on this one citygardens!

Caution to all, citygardens73 is clearly of a morally superior position than the rest of us knuckle draggers. Why do looney leftists like you assume that you must defend people that have tourettes and the like. Perhaps a few of them actually like to have a bit of banter like the rest of us?

You are such a silly little boy.i dont joke about peoples disability's as i do have someone disabled in my immediate family & i can ensure you my life is not severely limited.do you point at people in wheelchairs or laugh at blind people.which ever you want to put it tourette's is a disability that i would not wish on anyone, even yourself

Not having ago at you personally Zabier, but there is nothing in that reply which can justify Cameron's jibe.

TBH it is not just the Tourette's suffers who would be offended by his words it would also be the relatives/carers who have to look after those who suffer with a dibilitating disability.

There is no excuse for someone in his position to be using such language, although in fairness he did offer an appology of sorts on the Andrew Marr show yesterday.

Why is it a left wing thing exactly? I would have thought defending people with disabilities was a cross party thing not just a left wing thing. Or are you saying that the right wing don't give a toss about people with disabilities?

Tony, I understand what you mean but what I am trying to say is that I find it frustrating how some people can kick off so much about one group of people being offended when everyone says something that offends one group or another on a regular basis. There is a big difference between using a condition, disability or whatever as an act of humour and genuinely being disrespectful and offensive to that group. I think in recent times that difference has become unfortunately blurred.

I really find it hard to believe that someone can claim they have never said anything offensive against a particular group. It's human nature, we're not robots. So when people kick off so vigorously about things like this it just makes me chuckle at the hypocrisy of it all.

Maybe I was just brought up to not take life that seriously at all. I am sure it is all subjective anyway. I am confident there are just as many individuals with Tourette's that would back my side as would back citygardens' view.

It happens every day mate and in most cases the people who say it , don't really mean it or think what the true meaning of the word is and are very sorry afterwards . I've heard so many people being called bastards for example , now if you are a real bastrad child 'it could be upsetting' .

TBH it is not just the Tourette's suffers who would be offended by his words it would also be the relatives/carers who have to look after those who suffer with a dibilitating disability

You need to remember that Cameron dead son, had a debilitating disability. He comments were in bad taste , but he didn't mean any real harm behind them and I'm sick of the political correct police jumping on everyone comments . Its just ridiculous these days in all walks of life

TBH Zabier I agree with 95% of your viewpoint and for the record I have both laughed at and made jokes of subjects which could be deemed as 'offensive' or Politcally Incorrect.

However, it is usually amongst a small gathering of friends and certainly not within earshot of anyone who would be offended and they are not taken seriously.

Where I disagree with you is the Prime Minister using a joke about a disability as a way of getting under the skin of a political oppoent whilst appearing on TV. Cameron should know better (Like we all do) and he should stop trying to be funny at other peoples expense, as frankly he simply doesn't have the personality to pull it off.

This is typical left wing behaviour in that due to their moral superiority they have to tell everything to reign in their worst desires and stop being nasty to people, it is also making broad assumptions (typical of the main stream media) that this statement must have been so offensive to.... [insert minority group here], that i will assume they are offended without asking them and jump on the band wagon. Defending the oppressed and persicuted is a moral "thing" and should not be a political points scoring tactic. And no the right wing have the same mix of compassion and madness as the left

I appreciate comedy is a way of lightening a situation, however my brother -in-law lost his eyesight due to an IED in Afghanistan. He has had people in the street taking the piss as he walks with his stick. Is that f*cking acceptable you f*cking moron or is he being too sensitive
