Cardiff v Palace " away fan "

Sun Jan 08, 2012 9:54 am

I'll be coming up for the match in a couple of weeks by train with my brother, mate and some of our kids.We are staying over as there are no trains back and will we be OK having a drink around town before the game.Only looking for a wetherspoons or similar so we can have a bit of basic food.Obviously when we beat you it would not be advisable after. ;)
Not being funny but I can just about remember the last time we brought about 4000 to you at the relegation decider in the mid. 70's and it was a bloody nightmare. :old:
Cheers.

In all seriousness there are 3 weather spoons to choose from in town. And a lloyds bar.

The central bar would prob be better for you pre match!!

I've been a few times and people have always been good as gold. But then after 50 years on the planet you know when to keep your mouth shut.
changing subject a little I hope we win this tie but would be delighted if you lot got promotion above West Ham and Southampton who are the most arrogant pricks I have seen in many seasons.Talking to a few down at St. Marys they think they are nailed on and pushing for European domination whereas West Ham strutted around ours like they only had to turn up to win.
they thought the same when we beat them down your way in 2004. :D

p.s. I have posted on another thread about your trip to ours ,as I say there any questions re: pubs or stations etc. and I will do my best to answer.

Palace fans have drank with us in the Ninian Park pub on their last 2 visits. :ayatollah:

We have as good as chance as them for promotion this season as long as Malky can get a few extra players. :ayatollah:

Agree with you about Southampton who are my local team in Andover where i now live-i personally think that they will fade away and will end up 6th or 7th. West Ham will end up top in my opinion.

I was at that game and I remember a palace fan coming across the pitch from the enclosure and standing in front of the Grange End calling it on.

This was during the Half time break.

A Cardiff fan obliged and they both had a toe2toe for a few seconds.

They were all dressed in skinners and major domo's

It's all street parking and plenty of it if you get there at a reasonable time.My advice would be to set your sat. nav. to get to the ground and when you see the floodlights start looking for a side road to park in.I'll repeat what I said on another thread about timing though. It will take you an hour at least to get from the M25 to the ground so allow for that .Any time before 6.30 around the ground there should be be spaces. To be honest it is better to park a 10 minute walk away than right near to Selhurst as it allows for a quicker get away at the end.

Mate, If you don't go looking for trouble in Cardiff, you won't find it. As Annis says, family type supporters have nothing to worry about and the old days are gone. By the way, we WILL catch Southampton and we are looking forward to our visit to St Mary's, it should be quite a night!

You'll be welcomed wherever you go in Cardiff. The only problem you'll encounter will be in certain city centre pubs if you're wearing colours, because they won't let you in. The same applies to Cardiff fans.

They have a different rule for rugby - anything goes.

Have a good time, mate. I'm expecting us to win, though!

ant, you'll be fine.

Remember that game in 73/74. We needed a point to stay up. Palace went in front (alan Whittle ?), and then Tony Villars scored just before half time. Somehow, we held on. Big Mal was Palace manager, sheepskin coat, fedora, cigars and champagne. RIP.

We went down the season after though :(
